A report released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that 66% of homeless people in a San Francisco shelter tested positive for coronavirus, renewing concerns about indoor housing during the pandemic.

They were probably safer in the Tenderloin
Shouldn’t they have herd immunity with infection rates that high?
If it was like the NYC shelter — all were asymptomatic. They have herd immunity, the numbers are coming in fast and furious that this virus is far more spread through the population driving its overall mortality rate through the basement — where it will no doubt rendezvous with the American Economy.
In a month after those people recover or die, yes.

there’s a cluster of these losers close to us in L.A. I feel bad about the car repair business that had to move out because it got out of hand.
This does not surprise me. And the media’s hysteria antics about all of this makes me recall (hopefully in a correct way) what Bernard Goldberg discussed in his book “Bias” when back in the mid 1980s, the media had to make the AIDS crisis look like it was hitting the middle class whites, when the disease really only affected gays and others not practicing safe and monogamous sexual habits and drug addicts who shared needles with others.
Here we are again, with the virus and the disease only affecting that very small portion of the total populace, but you would not know about this from the media.
Sounds like a good place to study the fraction of a population needed to achieve herd immunity for CV-2.
Wow. I have remarked to family and friends that I suspected homeless shelters would have had a huge number of cases given their lifestyle and lack of social distancing.
That is a really big number and it further confirms that the vast majority of people remain asymptomatic.
Given the lifestyle and prevalence of drug usage, alcoholism, and other underlying conditions this surprises me. We do not understand a whole lot about this virus right now despite what the experts are telling us and while I understand why our leaders made the decisions that they did, I question how effective it will be in the long run given that people are still going into grocery and drug stores or through drive-thru’s and it appears to have spread far beyond our imagination.
So much of what we think we know now and the precautions are questionable at best - 6’ rule, hand washing, improperly worn N95 masks (can’t tell you how many of those I have seen), etc etc. I will do these things out of caution and to protect others as well as myself, but I am not sure how effective they really are in the big scheme of things given what we are learning.
Wheres that shocked face? When you have feces infected with coronavirus in the streets, its surprising that its not 90%.
You can’t make this stuff up. When “London Breed”, the mayor, made this announcement you knew this was a derelict decision. Watching progressives run or ruin a city, is like watching a nuclear bomb detonation in slow motion.
San Francisco seems like a good place to test people for Covid-19 generally. It’s damp and seems like the place viruses would love to hang out.
During my one and only trip there in my life, when I was a teen, it was cold enough in July that I had to buy a sweatshirt and I got (walking) pneumonia anyway, my first time for getting it. I had to sit in the motel when we got down to San Diego, where I was when I was diagnosed, and missed out on going to Tijuana.
Homeless who lock down together under one roof, infect together... Enjoy! Another indicator in a multitude of indicators that lock downs kill more people than they save.
So inside your house is a little less germy
The CDC panicked and there always right so we can never change course..
We will all be exposed at some-point in the future
I think my wife had it middle of February
How are these bums getting tested...and able working people cannot get tested?
I may have had it also - very mild symptoms if I did a few weeks ago.
Your house is far less of a germ-magnet than any public place and especially a hospital. After all, they are your germs!
San Fran Nan ought to invite each and every homeless corona patient over to her mansion.
For some $13 ice cream.
Out of her $24,000 Sub Zero Freezers.
When you are effectively a “ward of the state” the state will take care of you.
I want to see the staff of my local grocery and Costco tested. Talk about exposure! I thank them every time I am there for coming to work.
I attended an outdoor party in. SF one night in summer and still remember it was very cold.
