You can see a list of U.S. states ranked in order by the number of COVID-19 deaths per 1 million population. Go to this link, and scroll down to the list of states. At the top of the list, click where it says “Deaths /1M pop.” Then click on it a second time: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
In addition, here is a map that shows which states have a statewide lockdown, and which do not. Source: https://www.indy100.com/article/coronavirus-lockdown-us-cases-map-stay-home-order-9443151
Looking at these two things, we should be able to see whether nor not statewide lockdowns actually helped to save lives.
New York has a statewide lockdown, and has had 319 deaths per 1 million population.
Texas has not had a statewide lockedown, but its death rate has only been 6 per 1 million people.
So even though New York has a statewide lockdown, and Texas does not, New York’s per capita death rate is actually more than 50 times higher than Texas’s.
What is the explanation for this?
What is the explanation for this?

Dude. Seriously?
Texas is BIGGER in size that New York.
Mostly because we discourage blogs in Texas.
OK, now that is a dumb question.
For that matter - why are there always lots of mice in areas that have so many mousetraps? Mousetraps must cause mouse infestations.
Of course New York is going to have a higher death rate than Texas! Much of it is much more densely populated, and New York City residents generally get around via public transportation. Driving around in your own car is inherently isolating.
I have my doubts about the lock-down strategy that has been implemented, but we aren’t going to get anywhere with nonsensical arguments that don’t consider the underlying causes of these numbers.
UMMMM What is the population density per square mile in New York?
What is the population density per square mile in TX?
Get back to us after you look those up.
LOL, don’t give em time to catch the WuHu flu.
Look at Louisiana.
Far greater death rate than Texas. Closer to New York.
Answer:mass transit. Still running. Still packing them together. Then sending them home into packed buildings with elevators and other communal space.
Why? I will reply by an old joke.
A man is stranded in the desert. After a few days he’s out food and water. Near death, buzzards are circling.
With what strength he has left, he rolls to his back, looks up to the heavens and asks “Why me Lord?”
From above, a strong booming voice is heard...”Because Ralph, there is something about you that pisses my off!”
Because New York is cooking the book. Anyone who dies is said to have died from mycorona.
mass transit and population density.
Wyoming’s death rate is 0.
Population density. People are fuel, and the Virus is fire. Of course the closer packed the fuel, the stronger the blaze.
Uhhh .
Population density New York City: 27,000+ per square mile
Population density Texas: 110 per square mile
1 of every 38 people in the USA lives in NYC.
NYC has turned away from God. Texas is still Christian.
I like that the hardest hit areas are blue areas, and believe that God works in mysterious ways. He answers prayers in many different ways.
Some may not think the lockdowns are justified but please focus on the real world. There are many differences between Texas and New York City which could account for the difference. One, perhaps the most important, is population density.
NY has a population density of 411 per square mile.
TX has a population density of 103 per square mile.
NY has more people traveling overseas.
NY probably has much higher Chinese and Italian populations.
Which means NY got seeded a lot heavier than Texas.
Look at the size of the states and how densely populated each state is. And lets be honest, NY gets way, way, way, more International Travel than Texas does. So u combine those 2 factors, and that to me explains it.
Population density. How many people had it before you started lock down. How well the lock down gets followed. Household density. Weather. General health of the population. There’s a lot of random in there.
