However you feel about social distancing measures, I think most of us can agree that in some places around the country things are going way too far. Not a good look at all especially with no response given by the police when asked by reporters.
Man in Colorado was arrested while playing tee-ball with his 6-year-old daughter in the park for alleged violation of the social distancing order.
KDVR reports:
Matt Mooney feels Brighton police owe him a huge apology. The 33-year-old says he was handcuffed at Donelson Park in front of his 6-year-old daughter Sunday afternoon after police told him he violated the states social distancing guidelines.
Mooney told the FOX31 Problem Solvers he refused to provide his identification to three police officers because he was confident he wasnt doing anything unlawful by playing tee-ball with his wife and daughter at the park.
Shes like, Daddy, I dont want you to get arrested. At this point, Im thinking, Theres no way theyre going to arrest me, this is insane. Im telling her, Dont worry, Daddys not going to get arrested. Ive done nothing wrong. Dont worry about it, and then they arrest me.

And just like that our Civil Liberties disappeared. Maybe Child Protective Services will be next to take the little ones away from the parents not practicing safe distancing. The sign at Donelson Park said Closed but in smaller print reads, in groups of no more than 4 persons, parks remain open for walking, hiking, biking, running and similar activities.
Mooney was just there with his wife and daughter. He said it was the officers who were violating social distancing guidelines.
During the contact, none of the officers had masks on, none of them had gloves on, and theyre in my face handcuffing me, theyre touching me, he said.
The Brighton Police Department apologized Tuesday to Matt who was handcuffed at a park on Sunday.
On Tuesday, acting Brighton City Manager Marv Falconburg called Mooney to try to arrange a meeting with BPD Cmdr. Frank Acosta to offer an apology on behalf of the police department.
Falconburg conveyed an apology, however, Mr. Mooney has declined the offer for an in person meeting, BPD said via email.
According to police, about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the park because a citizen was concerned about a large group of people.
When officers arrived, there was a group of about 12-15 people who appeared to be playing softball at the park, according to police.
Although the officers asked them to disperse due to the park being closed, which was incorrect, disbursement was needed due to the states public health order regarding group gathering. The Brighton Police Department is currently conducting an internal investigation into what led to officers detaining Mr. Mooney while responding to the complaint. While the investigation sorts through the different versions of what took place by witnesses who were at the park, it is evident there was an overreach by our police officers, the police department said.
BPD said officers have to interpret several changing state public health orders and local closures, and there may have been a misunderstanding about the park closure.
It is imperative that we improve communication with our front line first responders so they are up to date on the latest rules in place regarding COVID-19 for addressing public safety. This is an opportunity for us to come together and do better for the community. We are deeply sorry for the events that took place on Sunday and the impact on Mr. Mooney, his family, and the community, BPD said.
But what about the child that saw his father getting arrested in a situation n which they clearly defy our constitution!
This is more than inappropriate. It is the quintessential example of false arrest. I hate the sue-happy society we live in, but suing this police department and these officers individually [if possible] would be absolutely appropriate.
Please share this article wherever you can. It is the only way we can work around their censorship and ensure people receive news about issues that the mainstream media suppress.
but come on! Cops need to worry about real crimes.
Not here in Houston. Our mayor asked all our criminals toJust chill during the COVID-19, so we got that going for us.
LEO get really pissed off when you don’t JUMP a mile in the air complying with any ORDER they give you. Many LEO go ballistic very quickly. They expect and demand immediate, unconditional compliance, no matter what. I see this on Live PD all the time. Too many times, I have seen them escalate a situation that was otherwise calm and reasonable, into something where they act in a very heavy hander manner completely uncalled for but for their inciting the situtation. Patience is not the strong suit of many LEO. I guess that is their training these days. Go in hot. Not saying all at all, but too many and too often.
*** The anti-chrisy must be very pleased with this test run for global sharia law. ***
Poop Francis sent his thank you to the cops.
Sue the town, the cops, all their FA off once this gets settled.
Yeah, I noticed that, too.
How did a guy, his wife and his young daughter morph into a dozen or more people?
Easy.
They lied.
I’m hearing that our governor in Michigan has issued an order that Zinc can no longer be purchased without a prescription. I don’t know what authority she has that allows this legally, but if possible, I think she should be sued as an individual, not a public figure.
Don't worry. You'll hear soon enough from Mr. Money's lawyer for violating his civil rights and false arrest.
I think the biggest lawsuit should be a worldwide class action lawsuit against China demanding they pay for every penny everyone has spent and lost thanks to their virus.
Throw in some punitive damages, too, for screwing up the lives of every human being on planet earth.
If I was that father, I would reject any apology and then sue, sue, sue!

The police can demand identification. That’s firmly established.
Typical of life in Colorado. Lived there for years and left, will never go back.
Not so. Only if the person has committed, or is about to commit a crime.
http://www.lpdirect.net/casb/crs/16-3-103.html
(1) A peace officer may stop any person who he reasonably suspects is committing, has committed, or is about to commit a crime and may require him to give his name and address, identification if available, and an explanation of his actions. A peace officer shall not require any person who is stopped pursuant to this section to produce or divulge such person’s social security number. The stopping shall not constitute an arrest.
I liked the old Colorado, before it was inundated and colonized by Californians fleeing earth quake fears.
Spent time up around Red Feather lakes, North West of Fort Collins.
Colorado has really changed for the worse under the Queer Governor Hickenpooper and his weed gang.
I no longer travel to Colorado.
Cops have become the worst thing in society. Worse even than criminals and politicians.
This started because a citizen called in a report... according to the police.
So, did the citizen lie to get them out there?
And 3 four person family units out taking advantage of the recent splendid CO weather would be 12 ppl. But were those 3 families interacting with each other?
I am personally relishing the after actions on this whole debacle. I hope Hobby Lobby and Appliance Factory outlet are well lawyered.
Where did you get 3 families???
There was only ONE family there.
The man, his wife and his daughter.
Even the cops are admitting they were wrong.
Why are you making up excuses for them???
Not so. Only if the person has committed, or is about to commit a crime.
They didn’t have probable cause. If those cops ‘thought’ they had pc, they’re too stupid to be cops.
so you have no crimes right now? haha. I think Balto’s mayor begged the youth to stop shooting each other so they could use the beds for COVID.
They didnt have probable cause.
If those cops thought they had pc, theyre too stupid to be cops.
