Today is the 103rd anniversary of Woodrow Wilsons speech to congress calling for a declaration of war on Germany.

Why has this feature of the American system congressional declaration of war as opposed to authorisation of military force disappeared? Which method worked better?
Is the rejection of the Democrats by the people at the elections of 2020 a fair judgement on Wilsons presidency?
Who were the fathers of The Greatest Generation?
Wilson was the direct spiritual ancestor of the current progressive movement. The only difference is that progressives of those days were Christian, while today’s progressives have a dumpster fire of a post-modern pagan quasi-religion.
Couldn’t you have listed 5 and then add Carter? : )
This is where language fails, I'd say that you should put quotes around improved if you mean what I think a fellow FReeper would mean! Me? I'd say FDR saw his stake and raised the pot ten-fold!
Well, I won't vote for him this November.
The best thing Wilson ever did was to stroke out.
He was a DISASTER... he literally imprisoned his political enemies... he was EVIL.... PURE EVIL
There is no reason he could not have been some of both. They aren’t mutually exclusive catagories
Yes. Perhaps we should set up a website for them ........
I suppose, but adding Carter would likely mean that I would have to add Clinton, Bush 1, Bush 2, and the hits just keep on comin! Probably, one is better off just naming the best presidents. The worst ones are legion.
Wilson’s desire for the League of Nations led him to support the seeding of Europe’s WWII with him supporting the Treaty of Versailles.
Yes he was a globalist scum.
I hope Hitler, Clemenceau and Wilson and bound together in eternity in Hell.
Well he didn't post stuff from his blog so he's got that going for him.
Thanks I will correct that?
I can see him being a write-in for any Freeepers judging by responses so far.
He was a progressive and wanted to turn America into Europe. One of the worst. Oh, and Hillary loved him. Nuff said.
If I can correct it.
Yup. Globalist disaster and most racist president ever full stop. The Republicans had desegregated the Federal government and he resegregated it.
Why has this feature of the American system congressional declaration of war as opposed to authorisation of military force disappeared?
Not a great president and not much as a human being, but respected and honored in Eastern Europe for his role in creating independent Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia, and Baltic countries.
“Mr. Wilson was one of the most devout of our Presidents. His religion was marked by constant and regular prayer, not a formality but a sincere outpouring of his spirit and supplication for divine guidance. He read his Bible consistently every day, meditated on what he read, and sought to put into action the teachings of the Scripture. He was an habitual church attendant and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.” From http://presidentwilson.org/items/show/22351
He also had a mistress on the side (Mary Hulbert), which others used as leverage to get him to do their bidding. Wilson was afraid of being exposed as the hypocrite he was.
