Any FReepers with COVID-19?
Ive heard a couple today.
Thought it might be good to have a repository of experiences.
I am also Blood Type A+
Sounds absolutely horrible. Attended one of those convocations at Harvard many years ago.
Imagine a device that will read a book to your mother in bed, or place soft music/nature sounds to sooth her and respond to voice commands if she is too tired to get out of bed.
"Call my daughter"
"Make my coffee"
"Turn on all lights"
It's very helpful.
I see what you did there.
There's so much disinformation going around. I think it's important to share what we do know of actual cases just as a service to others in need of any information they can get. This thread is very helpful to that end.
My kin was discharged yesterday. She is waiting for new of her husband who does not have his phone. There is no visiting permitted and she's probably learning his current state right about now.
I have no doubt I and the rest of my family had it. Started mid-February. I am a high school teacher in at a school that has a well-traveled international population. Many went to China do the Middle East during Christmas break.
Since January, weve had tons of kids out sick. MUCH more than normal. I actually had my students bring in Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer because they were dropping like flies. There were many students out with flu like symptoms that were negative for flu and strep.
Here is what it felt like for me: began with mild cough, then laryngitis (never had it before until this event), unproductive cough, but when I was able to cough up something, it was sticky, also horrible diarrhea, and finally, every now and again my upper chest felt like someone was inserting needles into it. Never had a fever.
Here was the protocol my husband and I used: Gaia Olive leaf and oil of oregano 3x/day for 3 weeks, 1000 mg Vitamin C, Monolaurin 500 mg 2/day, Lysine 2/day, Garlic 1/day, NAC 500 mg 1/day.
Its been over a month now, and the only symptoms I have left Is a small, barely cough at night time.
On a side note, my children barely experienced symptoms.
I know someone who doesn’t have coronavirus but has put themselves in quarantine.
I hadn’t thought of that.
So the advice against the nebulizer is spreading the aerosol?
Then doing it outside would help.
I’’m wondering if the medicine itself is contraindicated because it could cause more problems, like the ibuprofen.
The thyroid gland greatly influences a person’s immune system.
My daughter (56) was diagnosed about 10 years ago with Hashimoto’s Disease and has been unable to work. She has to take about 20 Rx and vitamins per day, but may still be bedridden 2-3 days in a row and suffers from insomnia.
It’s caused by a thyroid problem, which severely weakens the immunity system. She’s a prime candidate for the C-virus, but I met her for lunch a couple of weeks ago and she’s fine.
I’m 77 (O+ blood), no underlying health problems and have had no symptoms. I go to the grocery store about every 4-5 days and usually sleep about 10-12 hours a day (I’m a night owl). Sleep really helps your immune system work.
I don’t know anyone from a large group of my friends who has tested positive for C-v.
Did you have red eye or intense pain in eye area
So glad you are much better now, as that description of 12 days even made me hurt. ...Hope you and husband improve!
Vitamin C doesn’t stay in your system very long.
Try taking Vitamin D3 10,000 IUs every 1-2 days for a week or so to boost your immune system.
No. Did, however, notice a reduced since of smell. Similar to when I had whooping cough a few years ago.
I know one person who has it, he is/was a Freeper. Got booted for something stupid. Will follow his situation and report back here. He’s young(ish) so he’s likely ok.
Thank you very much.
they recommend hand held inhalers as opposed to nebulizers. Nebulizers aerosolized the virus into the air, which makes is much more dangerous and changes it from droplet precautions to airborne precautions.
Article said use nebulizer to treat an asthma episode. Limit number of people or use in separate room. The discussion was about resources and uf nubuluzers might be used to treat covid virus if run out if respirators. NO.
I "feel" like that is what it had to have been...because of the circumstances...but then I think "what are the odds?" So, I'm still taking precautions.
As far as the eye, in the two days between my urgent care appt. & the one with the eye doc, the condition of my cornea apparently deteriorated. He told me that there would be permanent damage, but to give it a couple of months to heal. My vision in that eye was very blurry for 4-5 weeks & has improved gradually. It's probably 90% back at this point. It still seems to be improving in small increments...so I'm hopeful.
It does really appear that I took a "direct shot" to the eye. I've had normal "pink eye"...this was wicked...NOTHING like that at all. The PAIN shooting through my head was just crazy.
Glad to see the replies!
I really want to get a better feel for what really happens.
As opposed to the were all gonna die! implications from news.
I should mention my BIL and his whole household were exposed 3/16. That person did not get symptoms but I have to be concerned for my BIL. Yet his daughter is nurse at Hopkins COVID unit and grandson working at neighboring hospital and they are allowed to work. Yes, all in that house...4 adults and 1 little child. They live just 10 min down the road but we dont interact much so not a problem for me or my mother, who also lives 10 min away.
Thank you all for your input!
