This is a hugely important opening monologue from Tucker Carlson tonight especially for conservatives, but actually for everybody. And most of all, for that Fox News watcher in the White House. Straight-up truth-telling right here:
He criticizes unnamed leaders for downplaying the viruss seriousness, but we all know hes talking about Donald Trump. Look at this: same administration, same day:

Agreed...so shut up already...sheesh.
Just trying to help your frazzled nervous condition, considering your complaints about being upset by seeing any coronavirus news. Maybe just try things that are more easing to your mind - kittens, puppies, flowers, etc - I’m sure there are some topics and threads you can handle much better.
Your lame attempt to conflate my mockery with angst is cute.
Do you do a little church lady superiority dance around the room after every whiney post you make too?
“This town needs an enema”

Saudi Arabia told Putin to pound sand and ordered maximum output even with Covid pressure
Thats what tanked prices
Are fears of the end of the world having an effect...some
But the big plunge took place upon the Saudi announcement
And the war tween Salman and Putin has been going on a while
Salman spoke with Trump right before the announcement and one suspects Trump wanted to know for how long since it harms USA shale in particular
Russia has to sell oil at 60-70 according to most experts to pay bills
It supposedly cost them 30 a barrel to cover production costs
Urals is a high grade crude
Comparable to Brent but better than West Texas Intermediate
The price war is prolly 70% of the pressure on oil markets
They are up a bit now...
OPEC Basket and Urals sell for about 50% more than our domestic stuff
Im guessing more production at the cracking tower...less bunker and asphalt maybe..
Don’t underestimate the impact this may have on the Mullahs in Iran, especially on top of their Coronavirus issues.
Here is a clue lou...we are all gonna die....if a cold virus has your name on it...maybe you should have stayed on mars.
Maybe I’m ignorant because I don’t spend a lot of time watching the 24-Hour Noise Cycle, but how exactly has the Covid-19 situation been mishandled here?
Italy had a few cases of Covin-19 five weeks ago and now is on a nationwide lockdown. The US had a few cases five weeks ago and now... has a few cases of Covid-19. No epidemic. The virus is pretty much contained here. Everyone with the disease is being treated. No mass deaths, no overwhelmed hospitals. And unlike Italy, we have had the virus enter our country in several places.
Where’s the disaster? So far, the consequences have been limited to a few dozen tragic-but-inevitable deaths, a predictable run on some supplies, a dip in the stock market, and the cancellation of a gaggle of tech-hipsters in Austin. Seems like a manageable problem to me.
Here’s something leftists, liberals, and, unfortunately, lifelong Washingtonians like Tucker have trouble wrapping their heads around. Not every problem has to be solved by some massive federal government project, and not every crisis needs to be handled by diktat from Washington. Maybe, just maybe, we don’t need to throw away that great federalist system we have just because there’s a crisis. Maybe, just maybe, allowing local authorities to handle problems in ways that make sense for their local circumstances works in a continent-spanning nation of over 300 million.
Or, I’m just not watching enough CNN and need to panic more.
Jane, all due respect, but for the first time, surely, I disagree with you
thanks for the article
Indeed its pounding Iran
The disaster, and it's aftermath, is coming, in the form of liberalism being exposed for what it is to the entire nation, irrespective of the plans and efforts of the media, by the president's actions, to date.
Be careful what you wish for.
This comes down to the wisdom of the Chinese running a level 4 bioweapons facility in one of the most populated areas of their country. The distance between that lab and the wet market that the virus took off from is measure in hundreds of feet.
Chances are good a lab worker sold a test animal at that market and the rest is history.
Yes, nursing homes are going to get cleaned out. I think it is fifty/fifty as to whether that’s a tragedy or a blessing. I just watched my father in law die slowly over the last five years in one of those places.
Bottom line is China isn’t ready to be a superpower.
As for us being ‘ready’ for something like this. No country can be ‘ready’ for a novel virus. Period. Novel means ‘new’ and if the Chinese aren’t going to come clean with the sequencing you need in order to deal with it until it is clear that it is completely off the chain in China, then you really don’t have a lot of options.
Now they have it modeled down to the last atom - both the S and L strains. (Yup, two strains).
It takes time to spin up tests that are EFFECTIVE, and CHEAP. China’s were neither.
Wuhan virus will pass. CFR will likely be four times what seasonal flu is. That will suck, but it is not unexpected.
Yes, respectively, we will have to agree to disagree.
Best to you, dear FRiend.
(And, I appreciate your courtesy, in disagreement. Take care :)
Some of the people on these threads can’t seem to walk and chew gum at the same time. Being aware of the seriousness of this and preparing for it, while refusing to become hysterical, seems a fine line that some can’t walk. We keep needing to accuse one another of ‘not seeing everything in the same way’. That makes us no better than the leftists who are trying to make political currency of a potential disaster.
I don’t believe it’s ‘just like the ‘flu’ - I think it has the potential to be much, much worse. But I believe we have competent people trying to walk that fine line themselves; and there are things we can do to protect ourselves and prepare.
Spending a lot of time projecting gloom, doom and criticism of the president doesn’t seem expedient in the situation.
Good points. However the fear-mongering is unnecessary.
The Enemy-Of-The-People media is doing its best to cause panic. They don't need help from anyone else.
But, perhaps President Trump can lesson media-driven anxiety by adressing the nation and discussing the above points? (Or have a televised meeting with the persons handling the problem? )
Finally, IMO-POTUS has not dowplayed the problem.
What else can he do ?
Call for panic?
Shut the whole country down?
More are going to die driving their cars than will be killed from the virus.
Should he ban people from driving?
The way the enemy media and democrats have attacked POTUS during this outbreak is completely disgusting. They once again demonstrate why they are the enemy of the people.
Thank you for your service and your persistence.
I’ve saved people’s lives in water and on land, but this is a whole other thing. Or is it? How is your immune system? Can you beat this like a younger person? (Which is quite possible.)
Best of luck.
