This is a hugely important opening monologue from Tucker Carlson tonight especially for conservatives, but actually for everybody. And most of all, for that Fox News watcher in the White House. Straight-up truth-telling right here:
He criticizes unnamed leaders for downplaying the viruss seriousness, but we all know hes talking about Donald Trump. Look at this: same administration, same day:

We fought WWI while the Spanish Flu was raging. Washington’s Potomac Army was wracked with disease.
The Chinese are why we can’t have nice things. Companies are either going to diversify their supply chain away from them to prevent this sort of disruption from ever happening again, or they’ll go away with China.
The Chinese have got a rough five years ahead of them.
For what its worth, wife and daughter are both in the medical field. The doctors they work with agree that this virus is being hyped by the media. Wearing masks at the doctors office where my wife works is optional. The also have a large supply of masks on hand.
You can enjoy your panic or you can dispassionately analyze the data. Countrywide quarantines are useless. What would be appropriate would be to identify the susceptible allocate resources into those regions. Did you ever notice just who is dying in Washington state from this disease?
Trump can wrap up the election merely by pointing out all the times Biden kissed China’s ass over the years.
I don’t think Trump plays golf very often, especially when compared with some previous presidents. He works hard, sleeps little, and seems to be ‘on’ 24/7 - and I doubt he’d fail to respond to a Benghazi-type telephone call.
“STFU and go take a cruise.”
Nice language lady, do you kiss your husband with that mouth?
Carlson is gonna look like a complete idiot when this turns out to be another Legionnaires’ disease, Swine flu, Avian flu, SARS, MERS, etc., scare. And, contrary to what Dr. Van Schoor wrote, like Britain, Italy has socialized medicine and a National Health Service (SSN, Servizio Sanitario Nazionale), which the WHO rates as the second best in the world, so I’d take his comments with a grain of salt as well.
Like you, I agree with one thing Dreher wrote: “If this pandemic teaches us anything, its that we cannot be so strategically entangled with China.” But then, isn’t that what Trump has been telling us for years and isn’t it an issue he’s actually been doing something about - and getting criticized for, no less?
Unlike Obama, Trump imposed travel restrictions to limit the spread of the virus and he’s had cruise ships remain at sea until passengers are tested. How do Lefties react? Travel bans, like everything else in existence these days, is “racist” and “he’s trying to artificially reduce the number of infections for political purposes” or “leaving people on ships to die at sea,” not that he’s trying to LIMIT the number of infections and that they’re flying medical personnel to those ships.
Last week, I found the following article from Cato, which seems to be pretty damned reasonable and a nice diversion from the “We’re all gonna die!” approach:

Trump is losing the election right before my eyes...
Oh please. By summertime it will be on to some other issue. You people need to take a break from this hysteria.
“Were in a situation now where we have to dance with the one who brung us; and we could do a lot worse.”

I’m not sure that everybody thinks like that, feeling such a constraint. Most Americans supported Jimmy Carter in the immediate aftermath of the Iran hostage taking. This is a common occurrence when there is a crisis. But as the days wore on, that changed. And in that case, Carter didn’t have half the country hating his guts - they mostly just thought he failed and that it was time for a change.
Sorry for the repeat post...
Speaking of hard truth.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!

Realize no matter what Trump does, half the country is going to criticize him.
He is trying to walk a fine line between effectively treating this while trying to keep things as calm as possible.
It’s probably what I would do as well, watch what’s going on behind the scenes, and not just what he’s Tweeting.
“For what its worth, wife and daughter are both in the medical field.”

Sorry, Tucker Carlson has just proven that he is what I always thought he was;
A PUTZ.
I never have gotten onto the Carlson Train, because I remember him from bygone days...in the heat of battle, he always takes the wrong side.
Not yet. So far there are none.
Oh brother. Conflate much?
All Tucker is saying the virus is all the motivation we SHOULD need to move critical manufacturing back home.
Tucker had an excellent show, last night.
Whoever dismisses what was said, on last night’s program, does so at their own/their family’s own peril.
Dr Siegel was on, immediately following the very honest and to the point opening segment, and confirmed much of what Tucker discussed.
Don your flame suit, as many here are suffering from severe normalcy bias.
Even the CDC has suggested that people over 60 (of which I’d imagine maybe half of FReepers are??) stock up on a few months of foods/meds, etc.
But, hey, it’s just a bad flu.
Completely Agree. And it’s Trump who had this effort started before corona. Let’s make that fact known. . .We can always do better and if this isn’t an eye opener for the globalist lefties, then I don’t know what is.
I ask, because reading what doctors who are in the thick of fighting this thing, pretty much night & day, their experience and read of the situation seems at odds with the take of your wife & daughter.
