Good. Out with the old, in with the new.

KC is not exactly out in the farm land. Should have moved it to Kearney, Nebraska or Wichita, Kansas.

I think somewhere in the middle of this...was a payscale ‘hit’. Grand Junction for a GS13 was $88k (starting out) and for DC ($103k). They might have a deal for a year or two...at DC rates, but it would have slipped to local Grand Junction rate eventually.

There is a lot of really solid expertise walking out the door.”

There is a ton of total solid waste being washed out the out the front door, and pointless Leftist attitudes as well.

Now if we could get the BLM and Forest Service hit squads out of the woods and fields as well.

Close the Department of Energy.

Start by moving them to Sinclair, Wyoming. There really is such a town. Look it up.

I love it that the swamp creatures are self-identifying by those most reluctant to leave the swamp. It certainly makes RIF a lot easier.

An agency that needs the shrinking. Badly. Next let’s move ATF to the US Northern Marianas Islands and the FISA secret court to Antarctica.

You can live a lot better in Grand Junction on $88K than in DC on $103K. And we are just talking basic cost of living things like food and housing, not lifestyle things like spending an extra hour (or more) daily on your commute.

I once had a recruiter call and offer to double my salary if I would work in the San Jose (CA) area. I explained that, for starters, the nice ranch style home & barn that I have in SW PA wouldn't even buy a garage in SJC.

Oh boo hoo. I’m sure the BLM will have no trouble finding new people to sit at desks and surf the web all day.

There is the story of a new congressman being given a tour of the Bureau of Indian affairs, in DC. He is being shown a vast room filled with thousands of desks, clouds and stacks of paper, and busy employees. Way out there, he sees a man slumped over his desk, weeping bitterly.

The Congressman points and asks for an explanation on the crying man from his guide. After a half hour of calls, he is told, "His Indian died..."

Can we announce a plan to relocate the IRS to Alaska?

The reality is that you could RIF 1/3 of every government “worker” at every level and the country would be better off.

“This is a huge brain drain,” said Steve Ellis, who retired from BLM’s top career-level post in 2016. “There is a lot of really solid expertise walking out the door.”

The real "brain drain" is the competent employees who left long ago as soon as they could find a better job in the private sector. The real losers are the ones who agreed to relocate because they don't stand a chance in the real world. Many of them are close to retirement, but not close enough for an early-out deal.

The DC Swamp Rats in the BLM leaving before their jobs move out west is a good thing. It costs nothing to move an empty position from DC to a western state. The people in DC tend to know nothing about land management whereas the people out west where the land is do. It is better to fill those positions with people who are competent and who have to live with their decisions.

My brother is a electrical engineer in Huntsville, Ala. His company has brought out various people for interviews (mostly from California). It was never an issue to sell the move to the guy. But these wives of the prospective employees were just shaking their heads.

Like you said, you could sell them on the cheaper housing, lower taxes, lower crime, and friendlier folks. But the wives were looking at the extras, and they just didn’t match up.
