Locust armies numbering in the billions are absolutely ravaging large portions of eastern Africa and vast stretches of the Middle East. We are being told that these locust armies “are unprecedented in size and scope”, which means that we have never seen anything like this before. And as you will see below, the UN continues to warn that the number of locusts could get “500 times bigger” by June. But even if this plague ended right now, millions of people would still be facing a devastating famine in the months ahead. These locusts travel in swarms up to 40 miles wide, each one can eat the equivalent of its own body weight every day, and the swarms can travel close to 100 miles in a 24 hour period. This is a nightmare of epic proportions, and it is just getting started.
National Geographic has never been known to sensationalize news stories, but even they are saying that this plague is “like something out of the Book of Exodus”…

The Israelites were also allowed in their dietary law (kashrut) to consume locusts (according to Leviticus 11:22 ). 50-60% of the weight of the average locust is pure protein. In fact, this actually makes them a more complete protein source than beef (by protein/weight ratio).

Insect infestations happen in cycles; just like climate.
20 years ago we had a massive infestation of mealy bugs on trees. Trees were stressed and produced few leaves. It was so bad I didn't think most trees would survive. Birds probably had a feast.
Next year they were gone. A few trees did die but the majority survived.
The population will crash. Nature is feast or famine.

this has b een happening for forever- remember seeing old films when i was a child many decades ago of locust infestations-just like this one- crops gone in seconds- on the old nature shows- cyclical infestations- nothing more-
Thanks to this meddlesome harpy and questionable scholarship she single-handily had DDT banned. The subsequent banning of
DDT and other pesticides led, over the course of the last five decades to outbreaks of many insect borne diseases and contagions. This stupid woman died before she could see how she condemned millions to horrible deaths that might otherwise have never happened if DDT and other pesticides had not been banned.
