Identity politics is Christianity without redemption. Woke notions of white supremacy and the patriarchy bring back old ideas about predestination

I am a white supremacist. Who knew? I didn’t. I have, however, just read Me and White Supremacy by Layla F Saad, published next month by Quercus, which has made clear to me that I am white, therefore I am a racist. In fact, Ms Saad told me in the introduction to prepare to “become overwhelmed when you begin to discover the depths of your internalised white supremacy”.

On a similar note, a friend recently told me that my failure to recognise a vast malevolent patriarchy was as a result of “internalising your own oppression”. There seems to be a lot of internalised weirdness going on: gender victim battling it out with racist in my gut. I thought it was wind.

The publisher is pretty sure that the ranks of underpaid, bookish folk who work for them are also all white supremacists. It is distributing the tome to all the British employees of its parent company Hachette, and telling them to spend 28 days “reflecting on manifestations of white supremacy, including white privilege”.

The self-flagellation of all the white supremacists at Hachette is yet another example of how much the Woke borrow from the Church. Identity politics has become a secular religion, and “white privilege” is one of its shibboleths. Indeed Ms Saad makes the point clearly in her book, stating that “I strongly believe that anti-racism practice and social justice work are also spiritual work.”

To be woke demands faith in certain creeds, with the twins Equality and Diversity as unassailable deities. It demands a knowledge of the right language. You must believe in certain disprovable evils — like the existence of a malevolent patriarchy — and like many strict sects, it punishes its apostates most severely.

Dear Layla,

I’m gloriously Male and am also white.

No self-reflection necessary. Bite me.

Quite sincerely, ‘Pod

Wow.

Those British employees should immediately register a grievance with HR and proceed to an Employment tribunal.

Every single one of them could rationally expect a protective award of 18 months pay.

Their UK staff can take them to the cleaners. This is an open and shut case of race-based oppression.

I've been saying for several years that progressivism is a form of Christian heresy. It takes the Christian idea of universalism - of one humanity under God - and turns it into a quest for the abolition of borders and a one-world government.

It believes in sin, even original sin, but only in the sin of white people and conservatives, and their sin is ineradicable and unforgiveable. It believes in forgiveness without repentance, and thus turns cities into cesspools by selectively refusing to enforce laws based on a twisted view of compassion.

With all that tweezing and makeup, it looks like she is trying to conform to white beauty standards. She must have an internal white supremacist pulling the levers in her brain!

"Is the U.S. still majority white-skinned?"

I guess it depends on if you count the "white Hispanics". :)

The Calvinistic doctrines do not come from Calvin. They come from the Bible by applying an orthodox hermeneutic. The ENTIRE Bible teaches predestination if you stop cherry-picking verses.

Study the arguments, but check your bias. Man does not make the rules. I wasn't a Calvanist when I first started out, but the Bible CLEARLY teaches it.

I recommend RC Sproul's treatment of it, and his sermon on the Maverick Molecule. For starters.

We attended a hyper Calvinist church for many many years. The Bible clearly DOESN’T teach it. We studied scripture carefully and read writings on both sides, read, studied and prayed. I recommend this website for starters. https://soteriology101.com/

That’s all I’m saying here as no one gets convinced with internet arguments.

Sounds like you are afraid to debate. I don't know what a hyper Calvinist church is. Calvinism is nothing more than a systematic deconstruction of theology. It is what it is.

If you posit that even one person's eternal destiny is up to him....God is no longer sovereign. And of course, there are a LOT of verses you have to get rid of....in their correct context.

And yes, I studied soteriology at the college level. But I didn't get to Calvinism until I stopped reading verses in isolation-- and started reading on entire books/letters in the Bible.

You cannot miss the big ideas of the Bible: 1- God is gathering a people to Him, and 2- They elect are just that: elected. Chosen. Before the foundation of the world.
