Candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt) took direct aim at the prosperity message of the Trump reelection campaign in his bid to become the nations next leader. Wages may be up and unemployment at record lows, but the Trump economy lacks the social cohesion needed for a true human society, he asserted. Before capitalism supplanted feudalism there were solid social bonds between lords and serfs. Neither class could renege on its social responsibility to the other. Now employers can simply dismiss employees if they are redundant or unproductive and employees are free to seek other jobs just to get higher pay. This needs to stop.
Sanders went on to propose a plan that would require government approval for businesses to discharge employees or for employees to leave their posts without good cause. Society invests a lot of social and economic capital in the ways we do business, Sanders pointed out. This includes things like public schools and public infrastructure. We cannot allow this investment to be squandered due to personal greed. Under socialism it is governments responsibility to ensure that this doesnt happen.
The candidate said he would expect all parties to cooperate in the transition to socialism. I will be patient, but only up to a point. If resisters obstruct change, assets will be seized and non-co-operators can be sent for reeducation. Greed will be exterminated and need will replace it as the factor allocating resources and rewards. We will finally achieve the utopia promised by Karl Marx where all toil for the common good.
In related news, rival contender for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, former Vice-President Joe Biden also criticized the Trump prosperity. During the Obama era, young men like my son were able to make millions of dollars, he said. Under Trumps policies, young men are being forced to work for much smaller gains. I just dont buy the argument that millions making small gains outweighs the opportunity to strike it rich without having to put in such long and hard work. I think most voters will agree with me on this.

Let’s see. A Social Security check means you don’t have to get along with your kids. A welfare check means no need for a father. Is there more?
And socialism destroys lives, economies, and nations.
Having to leave the house to go to work messes up the whole day. Bernie doesnt like that.
OK, so am I a lord or a serf. I’m a retired capitalist. I have no bond to Bernie socialist types, and am damn proud of that. If he thinks he’s going to get my retirement savings he better bring out the big guns.
No satire at all here:
I just ran to the little town near my ‘compound’... It is a pretty conservative town, sort of a Ranch town...
There was a Bernie Bot parked alongside the main road, his car festooned with mexican flags, and several other flags I couldn’t identify on the fly. He had signs front, side and rear, :
“Vote for Bernie;
No Wars
No Borders
Free College for all
Free Healthcare for all
Free Food For all
Free Utilities for all
Free Electric cars for all
On the bright side, he wasn’t attracting any interest.
On the dark side.... I hate even breathing the same air as people that stupid.
Lords and Serfs? Sounds like ol’ Bern wants a return to slavery. Of course, he does. And I bet he’d much prefer to be a Lord than a Serf. Wow! How did I know that?! I must be a physic...aaahh, er, umm, a, a psychic! Maybe not. Maybe it’s just common sense that we’d ALL rather be Lords than Serfs. And if we get off our haunches and work, we may not become Lords, but we do NOT need to remain Serfs. God Bless America and Capitalism!
