I cant remember ever seeing this much global panic about a virus. The bird flu outbreak that we witnessed a number of years ago definitely shook people up, and the ebola scare received a lot of attention for a short period of time, but this coronavirus pandemic is already on an entirely different level. Despite the fact that there is an impeachment trial happening in Washington right now, this pandemic has dominated headlines day after day, and many experts are warning that what we have seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg. It appears that this virus spreads very, very easily from person to person, and it is nothing like getting the cold or the flu. One leaked video from a hospital in Wuhan, China actually shows a victim shaking uncontrollably and writhing all over
A helpless coronavirus victim is seen shaking uncontrollably on a hospital bed in China as the death toll in the county rises to 56.
The disturbing clip, which was uploaded on to Twitter, shows a woman holding the head of the patient as he or she appears to be having a fit under a blanket.
Others surrounding the trolley are wearing protective masks as the victim is seen writhing all over.

So the doctors who treat these patients should wear no protection?
I remember when we had 4 cases of the Ebola Virus in the US, it was contained, but literally the entire country freaked out. Entire professional sports leagues were having their teams tested and treated to prevent it. Over 4 cases. . . . . People literally freak about everything.
I still have mine left over from a few years back. But I ordered a few anti-virus washable/reusable masks with carbon filter layers. Sent them to my kids. Along with ammo, so they can keep them.
i’ve got my hillary clinton halloween mask on standby...
your point #2 - the masks are not useless. They only help mitigate one of the entrances to the bodies. However, they are not useless.
Use a decent mask, goggles or glasses and ear plugs...cover any skin surface cuts. Wear long clothes and wash them after you get home ASAP. Take them off and put them in plastic bag before you enter the house.
You do know they dont stop the virus dont you?

Or
You can just get the damn virus, live or die and get it over with. I’m not living as you suggest above.
I was thinking of that. I’d rather get it early so I can have decent medical care and get over it. Getting it when medical resources are saturated would suck.
But then, with my luck, the damn thing would mutate and I’d catch it again.
I agree, masks will do little.
1: Wash your hands
2: Avoid crowds
3: Avoid visibly sick people
4: Avoid touching your face(eyes, nose, mouth)
At least in the west we have a fighting chance, unlike Africa, India etc...
Postings on FR that mention EVERY person in the world will be infected.
I am much more paranoid than you are. My N95’s, goggles, Tyvek suits, Nitrile gloves, Duct tape, Overshoes, etc are sitting on my ebola preparedness shelf.
Sounds like you broke into my barn! /
I fart a lot which sanitizes the air around me and makes a protective cocoon.
True, but we’ll look real good walking around with them on. LOL.
I have neighbors in the condo complex who want them, so I’m getting them each a case, at cost.
I think all brands are.
Stuff like this will continue to happen. Keep them in stock.
Same here, right next to the expired Mountain House chili from Y2K. ;)
they have cheap googles at the Dollar store and small bottles of 70% alcohol hand sanitizer for you guessed it, a dollar....alcohol will not go bad so these can last you for many yrs if we don't hopefully need them right away....
I ordered some several days ago....hope to get them.....
