Overblown alarm over reasonable gun-control laws proposed in statehouses across the country has led to a movement by various local governments declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries vowing to establish local jurisdictions where state gun laws that they view as unconstitutional will not be enforced. These resolutions, to the extent they conflict with state law, lack legal effect: In Tazewell County, Va., for example, the Sanctuary Resolution approved by the board of supervisors purports to prohibit any county employee from enforcing, and any county funds from being used for the enforcement of, new state gun laws the county deems unconstitutional. But Virginia state law prohibits local governments from enacting ordinances or resolutions that are inconsistent with state laws and, more directly, specifically prohibits local governments from regulating firearms.

The whole article is behind a paywall but here are the bullet points:
* "Their proponents misunderstand the clear constitutional limits on gun rights."
* "The resolution, and others like it, demonstrate how their proponents operate on a fundamental misunderstanding of the rights afforded Americans by the Second Amendment and, importantly, the limitations on those rights.* "
"...theyve spurred extremists who want to stand up local militias to engage in armed rebellion against the state action that isnt just dangerous but that also runs counter to the Constitution."

But, but, these same sorts of people are apologists for so called “sanctuary cities” from ICE. Seems a little self contradictory (I know, just rhetorically speaking).

"The resolution, and others like it, demonstrate how their proponents operate on a fundamental misunderstanding of the rights afforded Americans by the Second Amendment and, importantly, the limitations on those rights." - Mary McCord,
Washington POS You can tell when someone is lying about the Bill of Rights when they start talking about how it "affords" Americans "rights".
Anyone who isn't a lying Commie or just plain stupid knows that we were born with our Natural Rights - not "granted" them by some old piece of parchment.

Partner, This sanctuary business is one big "Bravo Sierra" by the Far left Rat crowd in every state of this Great country of ours.
Nobody is entitled to "Sanctuary" period.
Hopefully, the new Atty. Gen. William Barr will do something about this Sanctuary garbage that Far Left Rat party has foisted this "Bravo Sierra" on the American public.
Our previous Atty. General Jeff Sessions did not do one thing to help us out. I understand that he wants to run for Senator in Alabama and we hope he does not win at all. He is the biggest joke of all recommended by someone to President Trump to put him in as Attorney General.

Constitutional limits on gun rights?!
Its in the constitution - theres no limits!
OTOH its also in the constitution that the federal government has total authority over the immigration and illegal immigrants and this was confirmed multiple times when Obama was in office by court challenges.
And yet - sanctuary cities for illegals remains unpunished.
Suck it.

Leftists REALLY don’t want this to go to court.
Putting the courtroom spotlight squarely on “shall not be infringed” will be good for us.

-—neither would “sanctuary” cities for illegals stand up , —especially if some governors , mayors, etc., were arrested and tried by a military tribunal as they should be, as they are in a state of rebellion-—

"...theyve spurred extremists who want to stand up local militias to engage in armed rebellion against the state action that isnt just dangerous but that also runs counter to the Constitution." 100% FALSE. That is in fact the REASON for the 2nd Amendment, as stated EXPLICITLY in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere.
To: PROCON
I now assume the state will send out the State Police to arrest all LEOs in sanctuary counties who are not enforcing insane laws.
