Meet Patsy the border collie: The Dog who Saved Flock Of Sheep From Australia’s Raging Wildfire

Meet Patsy the border collie. Patsy saved a flock of sheep from fire. In this photo, you can see the Australian bushfires near the doggo’s owner’s farm. With bushfires still raging in Australia, over 500 million animals have died there since September. However, communities are coming together, people are volunteering to fight the blazes, and complete strangers all over the world are donating what they can to support Australia. What’s more, some animals are turning out to be real heroes and they’re saving their fellow animals.

500 million animals?
They must be counting insects.

They must be counting insects.

I believe/recall reading that they're counting mammals, birds and reptiles of all kinds in that number.

I have one.
They can also be the most stubborn and willful dogs you’re ever going to meet.

His pack instinct is also *very* strong, and if I’m home, he can’t bear to have me out of sight.

She looks like a mix of border collie and Queensland Heeler

Pack instinct. Apparently why my cat grooms me for parasites by sucking my hair.

Yup! I have a Border collie Sheltie mix who gets upset for a short while when someone leaves the room. VERY pack oriented.
Each day he makes sure we alternate walking the way he wants to go with the way I want to go. He has such an amazing sense of fairness! Plus, stubbornness, too! Heh.

“Everyone is just trying to get water and feed to their animals, shoot the ones that can’t be saved, get temporary fences up to keep stock secure, and put out all the logs and stumps still burning. And there’s people who have nothing left but the clothes on their backs.”

Absolutely horrible what is happening there. I feel so sorry for those Aussies and the animals there.

I had a dachshund that self-identified as a border collie.
She always wanted everyone in the same room. She would go and “fuss” at you for awhile if you left the room. Sometimes I thought we weren’t so much her pack as her staff. She was a demanding (and hilarious!) 4-legged “princess”!
