While fans of the TV show Perry Mason are very familiar with the inadmissibility of hearsay testimony, Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill) asserted at the Schiff impeachment hearing that hearsay can be much better evidence than direct evidence. Rather than being a collection of isolated facts, hearsay has the distinct advantage of having been vetted by the layers of people telling other people what they heard. This gives it the chance to gel into a coherent narrative in ways that direct evidence might not.
The most astounding aspect of what weve heard from Taylor, Kent, and Yovanovitch is that while none of them were among those listening in on Trumps phone call to Zelensky they were in perfect agreement that there was something wrong with it, Quigley said. These witnesses have decades of experience in the US State Department. That experience has given them a unified vision of what our foreign policy should be and how Trump has deviated from that norm.
The great travesty in the case of Yovanovitch is that she was fired by Trump for trying to enforce normal foreign policy, Quigley added. Its an unforgivable injustice for a career diplomat to be fired over a mere disagreement about foreign policy. Trumps assertion that the policies she favored had been failing for years is only an opinion, not, in my mind, sufficient cause to remove her from office. We shouldnt be surprised that she broke down in tears during her deposition seeing how badly shes been treated.
More astounding than the groupthink of the aforementioned long time bureaucrats was the admission under oath of both Kent and Yovanovitch that they had been briefed on the shady dealings of Burisma and Biden more than three years ago. Kent even went so far as to acknowledge that further investigation into those dealings is warranted because we cant have US tax dollars used in a way that fosters more corruption in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff insisted that he doesnt know the name of the so-called whistleblower whose hearsay-based accusations kicked off the impeachment hearings, but warned that any Republicans who mention his name will be locked up in the House jail.

Water Coolers all over the World are a Buzzing ,LOL
Much more intrigue than Franz Kafka’s “The Trial”. Life lessons BUMP!
For DECADES I was POSITIVE that on the day my pop died, I was with my aunt Millie the WHOLE DAY.
Not my Aunt Fran.
I WAS SO SURE OF IT that I would bet EVERYTHING I HAD on it.
And anyone I told about that day, I told them which aunt I was with.
I only recently, after 37 years asked the other folks who had gone up to Canada too which aunt went with them.
It was the aunt I thought I stayed with
I was wrong all these years.
On something I WAS SURE OF.
So ALL the people I told had the wrong info.
That’s why hearsay sucks.
Heck EYEWITNESS testimony has been shown to not be so great!!
Better than actual evidence, because gossipers never lie. They never sensationalize or exaggerate, or skew information to fit their personal agendas. You should always trust what random individuals say when they talk about others they don’t like.
It’s getting harder to tell what is satire in today’s wacky world when truth stranger than fiction.
And the game of “Telephone” just goes on and on.
At what point does what may have been an honest narrative, or at least plausible, become so garbled it is ruinous gossip and idle lies?
Reminds me of the car salesman who tried to convince me that “idiot lights” were better than gauges because the idiot light will tell you what just blew.
In my experience, with regards to hearsay, the more a story was passed around the further it diverted from the truth of the matter.
Wasn’t Terri Schiavo starved to death on hearsay evidence? My understanding was that it was admissible but should not be given much weight.
