New York (CNN Business)The NFL has so far kept up with a ratings boost that started a season ago.
One month into its 2019 season, the league's viewership is up around 5% compared to this time last year, attracting an average of roughly 16 million viewers across the league's network partners, according to Nielsen data. The NFL's viewership is also up 8% from 2017 and down just 1% from 2016. This season's numbers build on last year's ratings, which rebounded following two seasons of declining viewership. At that time, the media and sports observers wondered if the league's ratings could ever bounce back. The games were lousy. The president relentlessly attacked the league over players who kneeled during the National Anthem. And a glut of on-demand, prestige content from Netflix and other streaming services meant that TV viewers had an excess of other viewing options. It seemed like the end of times for the NFL.

My Jets sucks but that’s like saying the sun will rise.
Truth is there’s been a lot of good games this year and it’s been a fun season so far.
Yep most conservatives have gravitated back to the NFL despite the fact that the NFL doesnt want you.
Not me!
I’m gone for good.
I notice on my Amazon Prime feed now all these selections for football games. They might as well be selections for My Little Pony and Care Bears. I’m not the least bit interested.
I sure wish they’d make 10 Cloverfield Lane free, though. They want $8 for a rental.
Not me. The thug league is dead to me. I tape college games on Saturdays and watch them on Sundays.
Still goin’ strong! NO NFL for me. Don’t miss it.
I find nowadays I can’t sit down and watch anything for more than 30 minutes, before getting antsy, so I’ve cut way down on watching all sports.
I might watch some highlights that evening. But I probably couldn’t even name more than 10 current NFL players these days.
No kneeling this year.
Big whoop.
Let’s hear about ad revenues and makegoods.
I haven’t watched a down in two years. I don’t miss it a bit.
Sorry, not supporting Football, Basketball, Soccer, or really watching more than 10 hours of TV for the rest of the year would be a great big amount. Helps that we don’t own a television. I don’t want one either.
I’m still done with the NFL and the kow-towing NBA as well. The only sports I continue to watch are MLB and the PGA. That’s enough time wasted on sports IMO.
CNN and others continually try to disguise the effect, “it was Netflix, it was poor games, etc.”. The fact is it was the kneeling, and everyone knows this, whether they choose to admit it or not.
Not me.
I’m never going back.
How soon some forget. Just like 9/11.
I have a long memory.
I wish I could like modern football. It has been my favorite team sport all my life. But I no longer recognize the sport that’s’ played on Saturday’s and Sundays.
1) When did every game become an event where 75% of your yards and scoring came from tossing a ball around?
2) When did defense suddenly become so castrated by the rules? Do defensive players even have fun anymore? It doesn’t look like it.
3) when did the game become so quarterback-centric? Do you really need to rush the ball ever to be good? Even team like BAMA and LSU are playing glorified flag-football now.
4) It’s not just the NFL that’s lame...college football has followed suit and is just as lame.
Fake news to get you thinking you’re missing something. F the nfl.
Exactly. When no one kneels for the flag, the people will watch some football again. I can only watch 10 minutes of it to get updates for my fantasy football team.
Not me.
