Turn the Lights back On-THEN I'LL SHUT UP!

Just been informed the power is off in the Bay Area(Ca). Is this a 3rd world country? Is the power company(PGE) trying to avoid another entire town burning down again? Unacceptable. Make it political. This is the richest country in the world. No excuses.

A good excuse to jump on the Newsom recall bandwagon.

Why the ‘H’ can’t P.G. & E. do it as well?

Because they're still paying the fines from the last 30 years of neglect?

they have completely ignored systemic upgrades for decades..

That could be said for every utility company in the US.

Blah blah blah. PG&E is highly regulated. They have to deal with rates being set by the state, right of way issues for miles and miles of power lines and pipelines, and the previously mentioned environmental issues. They can’t just go in and clear the forests because of California environmental restrictions. I don’t think you get out much but I hike in a lot of places where PG&E has lakes and power lines. The trees are visibly absent from power line routes. Try going to Colfax some time, Forest Hill, Big Basin State Park to name a few. But there is only so much space between the clear cut lines route and overgrown forests 20 feet away. And don’t forget the eagle nests on some of the poles. There are wildlife protections for them. So if PG&E is culpable it is because they didn’t manage their way through the onerous bureaucracy well enough. And the state and the feds and quite anfew private property owners have some culpability too. Saying PG&E is culpable really is nothing more than talking without saying anything.

Maybe, but heaven help PG&E if individuals start dying because of lack of electricity for medical devices and services, refrigeration for medicines, etc.

Oh sure, people can buy generators, but hey, it's California, so I suspect their Spare the Air rules (in place almost year round) would prevent their operation.

Zero catastrophic fire danger in Sonoma County (wine country) California, predictions of 20-30mph winds (NOT freakishly high winds gusting at 70mph like two years ago) wrong, winds last night were 5mph max.

This is a public metric operation run by the Nazi-Communist internationale- gathering data on citizen reaction, tolerance levels for panic stricken decision making preparatory to softening us up for UN Agenda 21.

Law of unintended consequences.

Now that the clean electricity is not available to move the pollution somewhere elce, people will have to pollute the air locally.

My kids and grandkids were informed their power will be turned off at Noon, and last up to 5 days.

Scott Adams mentioned that his power is to be turned off a noon with no estimate when it will be turned back on.

Interesting, in the midst of the South Bay which is all orange, Mountain View (home of Google) is not tagged for an outage. Could be an oversight. Or maybe a middle finger to the rest of northern CA.

PG&E is absolutely doing the right thing.

Winds are currently sustained at about 20mph, on their way to 30mph with gusts of 45mph or higher.

Humidity is 12%.

The entire region is tinder box dry after a long, hot summer with no rain whatsoever.

Yet we have people who know nothing of the region excoriating PG&E for shutting off power. Laughable ignorance.

“Moraga, CA.”

Nice area, my cousin lives there.

But note: A wildfire could blow through there in less than an hour from the first wisp of smoke and burn the entire town to the ground.

And no human force could stop it.

It’s good they shut off power.

Look you can’t bury 120 KV lines don’t even think about it

One of the keys and high-voltage transmission is that the lines are in free air and therefore stay cool

Undergrounding residential lines it’s no big deal but when you talk about high-voltage transmission lines over mountains it’s a whole different ball game
