Given the state of things in that part of the world, it might be best to stick with bottled beer, so as to avoid contaminated ice, doctored-up liquor, etc.

The Caipirinha (pronounced kai-pur-REEN-yah) is the national drink of Brazil. Cachaça is distilled from sugar cane instead of molasses but is very much like light rum.

1/2 lime
1/2 to 2 teaspoons sugar (to taste)
2 ounces cachaça
Garnish: lime and sugar cane stalk

Bottled water only so you don’t fall overboard and drown.

They also probably don’t pour very strong when they can get away with it, i.e., drinks with mixes, juices, waters. etc. Regular martinis are good because it is harder to cheat on the alcohol content.

Which is why I am done with Royal Caribbean & with cruises unless dragged along.

If I’m sitting in a rowboat in a pond with fishing lines out & a cooler of beer, I have more liberty than on a cruise ship.

Oh - left something out. Being crammed into a 900 foot long sardine can with 3,000 plus middle aged proles and little ventilation, that put me in the hospital for a week after disembarking, as the pneumonia and flu in my system fought over which was going to make me more miserable.

The flight to Seattle & back was on a thirty year old sardine can with wings. Claustrophobia at 35,000 ft.

I have become a big fan of youtube vids with “Cruise ship from h*ll” in the title. At least the toilets worked.

;^)

Irish whiskey, from the people who invented the stuff. Irish whiskey is mild and less prone to causing hangovers because it is triple distilled, usually by the single pot method. This means that the “heads” and “tails,” the first and last components of distillation, are removed three times. This makes for a milder and purer whiskey composed of middle distillate that has less of the toxic compounds responsible for the worst hangovers.

I have to ask. What happened to your unattended drinks, beyond getting picked up and thrown away?

As a side note: that is a hard rule for ANY female, anywhere.

I am also done with Royal Caribbean. First cruise was in 1994 aboard Sovereign of the Seas.

FANTASTIC!

Next time was a cruise on RC to Cozumel 2 years ago.

AWFUL!

Next was a Caribbean cruise same as 1994 cruise but on Harmony of the Seas.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!

Huge ship. Lousy dining unless you want to pay extra in a specialty restaurant.

Tiny stateroom on 14th deck. Over 100 yards to elevators from stateroom. Screwed up orders for room service, which is now extra. 1994 it was included. More concerned with hand washing than guest comfort. If ship is in port restaurants are closed. Starve until you get to shore. Then a buffet lunch with 6,000 of your closest friends.

Done with RC and done with cruises. Total trip cost more than a month at a beach condo.

I am the opposite. I am happy being on the water, and will be going on a cruise Boston to Bermuda to Boston in two weeks.

I don't get the drink package because I might be able to fire them down for a couple of days , but to do it for a week or more, would be too much for me.
I am not much of a drinker anyway, and am willing to pay as I go. - Tom

I was in charge of the dev group for precruise planner (buy drink packages, shore ex, spa, upscale dining) for Celeb/Royal for quite a while until about 5 years ago.

From your text, it sounds like you got an all inclusive beverage package. I would suggest that they are only a value if you and your wife are going to each consume 8+ drinks a day. I say that because last time I went, both passengers in a cabin have to get the drink package. It depends a lot on their specials though. Sometimes they give away drink packages with your Rez.

For anyone who doesn’t get the package, Celeb offers something that Royal does not. You can get bottles of booze delivered to your room. The prices are extremely fair. When my wife and I went on a med cruise 2 years ago, we went through 2 big bottles of vodka over 10-12 days. We would pregame before dinner. Have a drink our two at dinner at $13 each. Then bring a big drink from our room to the show or casino.

It made more sense for us on that trip, bc the Med is not really a booze cruise where you are hitting beaches constantly. Plus she is a lightweight and $100+ per day for her to drink was over the top.

In terms of drink suggestions, that is tough. I only drink fruity stuff in the sun. Bahama mama is my favorite. But I don’t like the sugar to alcohol ratio. I always ask for a run floater. It should be included in your package.

Take this advice: get the water package for one of you. You can get pelegrino or Evian anywhere on the ship for free. Anytime you are heading to your cabin, grab an Evian even if you don’t need it. Get a nice stock for the nights, and as you leave the ship.

Sorry, I can't advise you. My only Caribbean cruise was on the USS Hank, DD702, back in 1949, and they didn't serve booze aboard.

Two suggestions.
1. Breakfast Shot. Need bacon.
2. Bahama Mama

The breakfast shot will keep the moslems away and tha bahama mama is just a good cold drink.
