In a case of wanting justice, a man wiped out his son's inheritance for his quest to win a legal battle. For a $100 speeding ticket, Richard Keedwell spent $30,000. Yes, that amount for a speeding ticket case that could've been solved by paying it.
His battle for justice started at what he claims is a speed camera's disfunction, causing it to clock him traveling 35mph in a 30mph zone in Worcester. This took place three years ago and that is how long the court case went on. Instead of paying the speeding ticket, he instead challenged the fine and dragged the case for what he said as a "seriously flawed" system...

That was foolish. It’s often unfair, but the ticket and move on. Unless it involves jail time, it’s better to pay the ticket and move on
Wisdom is not worrying about the little shit.
I am sure it wasn’t the price of the ticket that was the problem, he didn’t want it on his record.
But with all that, he should have figured that he was not going to win and paid it.
As George Carlin once said, “Not too bright folks, not too bright”.
The Seep State is broader and deeper than one would think...
The Deep State is broader and deeper than one would think...
More money than brains.
I don’t think it was foolish
The man was fighting for his rights, and it costs money to do that. Those speed cameras are just revenue generation machines for local governments because nobody spends the money to fight them.
The only problem is this guy hired really bad lawyers who just took him for a ride.
He should have looked for a better law firm who could have won this on constitutional grounds of “facing your accuser”, the accuser is just a camera, it can’t testify
Idyat
This was in the UK. Their speed camera system is seriously effed up, but there’s no way you can fight it. Just pay the fine.
I used to work with a Government lawyer who fought (and won) every ticket he got. I think mostly because the agencies did not want to go to the expense of convicting him.
It happened in England. Not the US. It helps to read beyond titles.
Even if he didn't want it on his record, so what?
His insurance would have bumped up a little bit unless he took a traffic school that expunged the ticket. Even the extra insurance costs over time wouldn't come anywhere close to the $30K.
Sometimes in life you lose. Best to take your medicine, cut your losses and move on than to waste it all on lawyers and court costs fighting an uphill battle.
He spent a dollar to save a nickel but didn't consider the $.95 he spent getting there. Plus he didn't get the nickel.
Dumb on so many levels.
Camera tickets are not on your record and carry no points and insurance cannot use it against you.
I just #$#$ing got one. Yeah I cursed like a woman democrat and it DOES go against our principals of freedom.
But Zhang Fei is right.
Wisdom is indeed not worrying about the little sh.t.
And even if I feel it’s not so little, the govt isn’t gonna care or cry if I get an ulcer or stomach cancer stressing and getting angry to no end.
took me 51 years to PARTIALLY learn that.
Not there all the way yet :)
Thanks Dad.
It says “speed camera”
Those don’t go against your record as the camera cannot see who’s driving and Also THEN people would really fight to get rid of these money making schemes.
I have seen my car in the pictures. You can’t see anything, no less a person in the driver’s seat from behind and for that reason it’s not applied as points or moving violation and insurance can’t use it.
And it’s less than usual. 50 bucks.
Still wrong but not worth 30k!!
Or anything more than the 50 bucks and a vote against it at the polls.
i think there is good in people doing things that don’t benefit themselves, but that fight injustice and may save others from injustice.
The English just stick a tire around the camera and set the tire on fire.......
Ah those Brits
