Also contributing to the emergence of Fake Science is the use of science as a cudgel in policy wars, a primary tactic of what is known as Post-Normal Science. Think of it as sociology on steroids, identifying as science.

Well if everybody producing a report has the same OPINION of what they wanted the outcome to be, then we have to rely on INTEGRITY to make sure the reports are accurate.
Yeah, I know.
Which is why there is focus on ‘Data Integrity’ - 21cfr 210, 211, 820, ICH Q7, etc - in the medicinal products arena.
I just did a quick google of 21cfr etc. as I had no idea what they were :)
Data Integrity is everything.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Any drug company funding research to get pre-determined results instead of useful drugs will be out of business soon enough.
I propose, that any scientific study or research, that is funded with my money(!) be held accountable to the applicable “GxP’s” - Good Laboratory Practices, Good Documentation Practices.
There are plenty of auditors, guidance documents, contract providers, software- everything needed- to spin up AND enforce such a standard.
