When has body armor ever, in itself, killed anybody?
Apparently Chuck doesn’t understand that it’s congress that sets restrictions on these things, not a government agency. One wonders why he’s so willing to surrender his prerogative as a legislator.

This is why bipartisan bills should require hearings, where people that really know facts are allowed to freely testify on proposed legislation so a full picture emerges. Unfortunately hearings are now sound-byte shows for the media where Legislators get their 15 seconds of fame by directing witnesses to say what the Legislators want to hear.
Government doesn’t get to decide what Americans “need.” Though the do, frequently.
I wish they would just stop already. I don’t have enough money to buy all the things the liberals don’t want me to have.
We all need to be able to protect ourselves from people like Chucky. If they ever get complete control then a lot of good people are going to die.
‘Zactly - it’s explicitly NOT an offensive tool. In fact, in some cases being shot with body armor on will still pack a hell of a punch. And, certain calibers vs. certain levels of body armor don’t protect the wearer.
Reason? Because crazy SOBs are out there.

Yep, soft armor is only good for handgun ammo. Any centerfire rifle ammo will zip right through it.
Well of course, but what he and the Dems have been doing is a brilliant strategy, gaslighting the public into believing that anything related to firearms or self defense should only be obtained and used by agents of the Federal or state governments.

Even with plates, it’s gonna mess you up if you’re hit with a rifle round. Saw it a few times in Iraq. Broken bones just about every time, but it’s still better than being shot.

I have never had to wear body armor, but coincidently, I was about to purchase some.
Having trained/taught defensive shooting for over 15 years now and being a devout concealed carrier, it seems to make sense to train with and wear a vest at least in certain circumstances. Particularly as most defensive shooting techniques taught today assume a stance appropriate for body armor. Also, for those occasions where one cant legally CC (concerts or Garlic festivals for instance), it would be nice not to feel totally naked in an unknown crowd should another ‘event’ like El Paso occur.
I am looking at some things online, mainly soft, Kevlar, level IIIa or IIIa+ with the pockets for ceramic plates as an option, but with the idea in mind that this, like the CC, is covert and not obvious (not outer wear). So most wear would probably be without plates, but I could range train both with and without.
Appreciate any input/product suggestions from operators or people with experience using this.
Put some half inch steel plates in their backpacks. The chances of them getting shot AND the chances the kids are going to know what how protect themselves AND the chance that the backpack will be within reach if they get shot—makes this idea stupid.
But if you use steel plate, they will be heavy as hell and perhaps the little kids will build up some muscles.
You really do not want to walk around all day in the heat wearing body armor. Prickly heat rash can be brutal. And the chances that you are going to end up near a shooting are nil. If you have already seen a mass shooting event...the chances of being in another are less than nil.
