That is where we currently are in our public, political discourse.

All guns can be said to look like weapons of war. Guns are used in wars, ergo every gun can be claimed to look like a weapon of war.
That’s exactly the incremental disarming tactic here.
Why do the police have machine guns? Who are they at war with?
The big problem, I think, is that the GOP tries to be “reasonable”. Why??? It’s the Second Amendment, for gosh sakes! Shall not be infringed!
It’s like “sort of” establishing an national church. Or blatantly censoring any journalist who fails to support the President. Such things would be unthinkable. No polital party would try it.
But “reasonable” gun control? Oh, well, it’s for the children ...
I remember 1968 when the Saturday Night Special revolver and the 5-shot bolt action rifle were the epitome of EVIL!
I look at argumentation style, word usage, and do on along with use or lack thereof of euphemisms.
The arguments crafted against gun use fall along these lines. They cannot say they are anti semi automatic.
Technically a weapon used to prevent takover by domestic tyrants wouldn’t be ‘a war weapon’

Libs cannot say they are anti semi auto. They have to have another word or words as euphemism to after the desired objective.

I have the definitive answer to the gun ‘problem’
Democrats’ ultimate goal is to end all sales of guns, regardless of type.
So, let’s let them ‘have their way’.
Let’s have a REPUBLICAN submit a bill to repeal the 2nd amendment to the constitution, aka: the right to bear arms.
That right cannot be repealed unless through a constitutional conventions and approval of 3/4 of the states.
So, after the bill is suggested, the whole country will go into a conversation of the merits and whether it’s possible and whether THE PEOPLE really want to end the 2nd amendment.
IOW, let’s call the democrats’ bluff and have the conversation and see where THE PEOPLE stand. I’m pretty sure that the people won’t give up their weapons.
But, the bill should include the banning of ALL weapons: guns, rifles, automatic weapons, shotguns; EVERYTHING that democrats consider deadly.
Then, the bill should include the banning of all gun production and all manufacturers of such weapons will only be allowed to sell to the military and law enforcement. Any civilian caught with any type of gun/rifle/shotgun, will be sentences to at least 5 years in prison, and anybody that commits a crime with such a weapon will receive a mandatory death sentence.
After that, we’ll have to consider banning knives and bats and cars and rocks and training in the martial arts. All those deadly weapons do not need to be in our midst.
Okay, what republican has balls enough to submit the suggestion to repeal the 2nd amendment?
That’s a sweet shootin’ Weapon of War!
