This week, I looked at some striking parallels between the ratification of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (arguably the first major piece of gun control ever passed in America), and how modern politicians approach pushing new gun control tactics today. The NFA was fraught with ignorant legislative texts, draconian taxes to be levied against regular Americans, and outright bans and restrictions on firearms and accessories that were never discussed when the bill was even written.
Proponents of the NFA, including then-Attorney General Homer Cummings, used four key tactics to push the NFA to Federal law: 1. A false sense of urgency. 2. Ignorant political contributions. 3. Needless restrictions of Americans' rights. 4. Loopholes that side-stepped the Constitution.
Many politicians have adopted these tactics to carefully chip away at the Second Amendment and the many individual rights it guarantees. We've discussed a few examples in the past, including:
H. R. 7115 (which aims to ban gun-making kits and receiver blanks). Proposition 63 in California requires background checks for any gun owner who wishes to purchase ammunition.
Bill S101 in New Jersey requires all gun dealers in the state to needlessly stock and sell smart guns. This law paves the way for New Jersey Democrats to potentially require all guns sold in the state to be "smart-gun-capable". Washington State signed Bill I-1639, restricting anyone under the age of 21 from buying a semiautomatic rifle. Adult gun owners living in the state must now also submit to more background checks and complete extensive training just to buy a gun.
It is apparent that politicians are trying different tactics to take down the Second Amendment. Only these tactics aren't new -- they've been used for more than 80 years to restrict Americans' rights. We all need to consider these revelations so that we're better equipped to engage our elected leaders and public officials in their own political tactics.
They want to take guns from non-violent citizens, while leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.
“An honest statesman need not fear an armed populace’’.- Thomas Jefferson.
Honest Abe Lincoln is evidence to the contrary, sad to say.
Politicians need to understand that revolvers are easy to make and that saltpeter, the key ingredient of gunpowder, can be made from urine and manure.
Do a search, Lincoln assassination, Secretary of war Stanton conspiracy
That says it all.
Guns? The “concentration camps” are already being used. The gun confiscation and slaughter is next up. How did Nazi Germany pull that off again?
It’s time to start calling this what it is — Nazi tactics.
The NFA is unconstitutional. It not only violates the 2nd Amendment, it violates the 14th’s equal protection of the law by essentially restricting machine guns artillery to the wralthy.
And the NFA followed another ban: on alcohol. Banning one created the black market that produced the violence that produced the ban on the other.
It reminds me of 9/11: The Muslims attacked us - but we, not they, ended up losing our liberties. Bush has the Royal Saudis protected and escorted away.
has = had.
I believe Stanton despised Lincoln, is that correct?
They use a long-range series of behavior-modification ploys...look at how many “hard-core conservatives” now have so many PC tendencies, that they may not even be aware of, these days...
Long-term immersion with long-winded screeds against all “offenders” takes its toll....President Donald Trump comes along to try to save us and look at how many sniff at his “brash and crude” tactics...was a time where all normal men would react the same way and even more so....now they have these left-imbued “sensibilities”...

Wow, thanks! That was interesting.
No one wants to take your guns away. Today.
The liberals plan to gradually make gun ownership so difficult and expensive that many will give them up. They won’t try outlawing and confiscation because that would result in a shooting war that they could not win.
First, they will outlaw certain types of guns. Any firearm that can accept a detachable magazine will become an assault weapon. Your scoped .30-06 deer rifle will become a sniper rifle. Your 12 gauge pump shotgun will become a street sweeper. They will outlaw armor piercing ammunition which will be defined as any bullet that can penetrate soft body armor. All replacement parts for your firearms will be prohibited from being manufactured or sold.
Then they will institute high capacity magazine bans and prohibitions against transferring them, safe storage requirements, mandatory liability insurance, registration, restrictions on where and how you can carry and use a gun, violation of any one of them will be a felony that takes away your RKBA. They will require expensive and lengthy safety training.
Then there will be high taxes on ammunition and firearms, background checks before you can buy ammunition or reloading components, universal background checks on firearms, elimination of instant background checks, mandatory waiting periods where the government can delay approval indefinitely where your social media posts will be scrutinized for troubling content.
They will have secret no buy lists that any politician, law enforcement officer, or bureaucrat can add to and no one is allowed to see. There will be with no due process once your name is on it. There will be red flag laws where anyone can report you as a threat where your firearms can be seized without due process.
There will be a ban on the manufacture of new firearms, except to the government, of course, and a total ban on the transfer of existing firearms, even to relatives in a will.
And dont forget about smart guns which will be ridiculously expensive, unreliable, and easily overridden and defeated to make it possible for the government to disable them remotely. All new firearms will be required to have them and eventually they will require ALL firearms to be retrofitted with them. Which is impossible of course, but anyone caught with a dumb gun will be charged with a felony and jailed.
All of this will be done a step at a time with the promise of safety. Their safety. As they sit behind desks in buildings with government-paid security and bulletproof glass and ride around in armored limousines living in the best houses and eating the finest food your money can buy.
During all this, your children and grandchildren will be flooded with propaganda that tells them that no one needs guns and that they should rat out family members, neighbors and friends with “illegal” guns and how “good citizens” turn in grandpop’s guns when he dies.
By that time, the citizens will be brainwashed into believing that it’s for their own good as the warden slams the doors shut.
If you mean, despised him enough to plot an assassination, well yes.
"...Not coming for your guns. Today..."
Yep, thanks for the ping. I’m convinced they have it all laid out. Hillary, of all people, somewhat gave it away in 2016 when she told the country how much she just loves the Second Amendment. Obviously a total lie, but she also understood that there are literally MILLIONS of gun owners who still vote Democrat (for various reasons). And the threat of the government taking their guns has flip millions of other former Democrats to our side and could easily flip the remaining gun-owning Democrats - and those flips are usually PERMANENT. (by this way, this is the only single issue with that power, nothing else comes close)
So, no, they won’t take your guns right away, they will simply start the process of having less and less gun owners. But when when they reach a certain level, small enough, the gun owners will not have ANY political power - and, at that point, they can finish the job.
