Check for yourself. Just enter "Skid Row Los Angeles" into Google Search for Maps and you will see it is an entity on the map with boundaries. In this video I take a close look at that map and concentrate on the wholesale district which lies within the bounds of Skid Row. I take street level tour of a section of that wholesale district where I used to do a lot of business, often going there at least once or twice a week. The homeless situation which was encouraged by the current city administration must be putting a lot of pressure on the folks who work in the wholesale district due to the spread of filth and disease.
I find it interesting that LA has the shape of a donkey. 8>)
Skid row gets the majority of “publicity”, but homeless are all over SoCal. It is a much more widespread problem than downtown LA.
Been through there more than once.
It’s appalling.
Now you know why people paid me a bit extra to pick up their stuff for them in the wholesale district. Even back in the early 90s the situation in that area was bad enough for them to NOT want to go there and now it is MUCH WORSE. Due to the disease situation, I don’t think I would risk it today.
Yeah. I concentrated on the Wholesale District because that is what I am most familiar with. It wasn’t great when I went there but now it is worse.
Looks like places in Portland, Oregon
This reminds me a bit, of some liberal outrage a few years ago, when someone was mapping where bad neighborhoods in various cities are located. Due to a big overlap of bad areas with areas of black population, the creators of the app with such mapping was charged with racism.
Next time you are in Vegas , go under the freeway next to the “Freemont Experience” and take a look...
I just drove through Vegas last week, I wish I had known, I would have checked out some of the tourist sites.
Looks like places in Portland, Oregon and Seattle Washington, Olympia Washington.....
Portland is where the term skid row came from. Back in the day they where skidding logs down the muddy streets of that part of Portland
A few months ago I spent some time watching Youtubes on the nasty state of Los Angeles.
There are plenty of videos out there to watch if you’re so inclined.
Block after block. Mile after mile - the homeless are encamped in the streets. Thy lucky ones have tents to live in. Most just live on the bare pavement.
I think I saw at last count - LA has over 10,000 homeless people living on the streets.
Welcome to a liberal democrat utopia.
I had to look to see if that was my post. I posted the exact same thing on another thread awhile ago.
FRiends don't want FRiends using Google.
10,000?
Many more than that.
Got a conservative alternative?
According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, in 2019, approximately 50,000 to 60,000 persons may be found homeless on any given night in Los Angeles County, more than 44,000 of them on the streets. Youth, from minors through age 24, make up 8,915 of the county's homeless population (8,072 in 2018).
Although homeless people may be found throughout the county, the largest concentrations are in the central Los Angeles area (27%) and in South Los Angeles (16%). Most are from the Los Angeles area and stay in or near the communities from which they came. About 7% are veterans. African Americans make up 34% of Los Angeles County's homeless population - hughly disproportionate to the percentage of African Americans overall in Los Angeles County (about 8 percent).
