Scarborough: Last Night's Debate 'Disaster' for Democrats

On today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough, speaking as someone who unequivocally proclaimed "I want Donald Trump to lose," said that last night's debate was a "disaster" for Democrats.

Scarborough made a four-pronged argument: first, Dems went after each other rather than attacking President Trump. Second and third: the unanimous Dem support for health-care-for-life for illegal immigrants, and for making illegal entry into the US no longer illegal, will lose the Dem candidate several states.

Finally, whereas Kamala Harris scored points with her attack on Joe Biden regarding busing, no Democrat today will actually support busing, moving children, for example, an hour from San Francisco to Oakland. Scarborough also said Biden's performance might have been the "most disturbing" he's seen since Reagan's first 1984 debate.

Here's my take on last night...

• Trump so very evil
• Bernie said the only way anything can get done is to take down Big Tech, Wall Street, Big Banks, Big Pharma, Big Ag, Big Momma, and anything else that's Big. He was the only one on stage ready to Bern them all to the ground. Then you can do stuff.
• Kamela brought out her angry black woman victim prosecutor and took a machete to Biden over Racism. She believes in busing and is ready to desegregate America and will prosecute anyone who gets in her way.
• Biden trotted out a very long list of participation awards and took full credit for them all. By he way, he had fixed the immigration problem before Trump took office. Who knew?
• Buttgrieg came across as calm and well spoken, not the flaming pervert we know that he is. His most well spoken soundbite of the night..."I couldn't get it done."
• Kristen Gillibrand was determined to ignore the moderators and time limits and delivered her well rehearsed speeches with the enthusiasm of a cheerleader. Yay me.
• Marianne Williamson is going to defeat Trump's hate with love.
• Yang is going to pay everyone $1000 if he wins.
• Bennett is going to build up Central America to the point no one wants to come to America anymore. That will fix immigration.
• Who else was on stage?

NBC has spent the last two nights running their own ads trying to convince Democrats that they have a chance. Their main points:

• If you average the MSM fake polls with the real polls, then Trump's support has never been that strong. Stangely the concede it's never been that low either.
• All democrats have to do is to unflip all the states that Trump flipped when he won.
• They can do that by being less unpopular than Hillary Clinton was.

  And for the second night in a row, NBC has named Trump the winner of the debates, LOL!!!

Biden’s main problem now is that he’s a doddering old fool who looks and acts like he’s just a few months away from being committed to an elder-care facility. The idea that he could sleepwalk his way to their nomination was blown up last night.

Dems are on their way to a McGovern Mondale rerun....

The McGovern analogy is close, but I think Mondale is closer.

Every election seems to have its own dynamic. McGovern's was a massive repudiation of his surrender-at-all-costs "solution" to the Vietnam War. Ordinary folks like me could not stomach the though of a President going to Hanoi and begging on his knees for the release of our POWs. Mondale got wiped out because people saw the contrast between his dour, dull, pessimistic approach and Reagan's unquenchable optimism and personal charisma.

What will it be in 2020? Seems like the 'Rats have two ways to go, neither of which is all that appealing. They can go with a young, untested super-liberal socialist. Or they can go with a strong liberal who has been there, Biden has been in elective government for almost 45 year. Bernie Sanders likely has little experience outraise of elective office.
