Yesterday I wrote that Trump had goaded democrats and Pelosi into doing what he wanted, i.e. ban foreign foreign opposition research. He has repeatedly said that what happened to him should never happen to another President. But there's more and the left still doesn't get it and I need to spell it out even more clearly.
Trump has baited the left into making all kinds of caustic remarks and they have swallowed the lure.
Analysis of this Trump clip consumed most of the hour with ODonnell interviewing several guests, including MSNBC contributor Jennifer Rubin, who went on an angry tirade against the President: You have to ask a more fundamental question which is, how can anyone in their right mind and good conscience support putting this guy in office for another four years Another fundamental question: how does MSNBC retain viewership when it insults over half the U.S. population who voted for Trump? Here's what the DNC media spent its time on yesterdayRubin continued: He is a mess. He has betrayed his country. He will do it again. If he's reelected can you imagine what he's going to do, then? It's really catastrophic. The only one Trump has been betraying is the liberal media that he has rightfully labeled fake news.
Not that anyone should really care, but Andrew MCCabe, the disgraced former FBI agent who is wholly owned by the DNC and the Clinton Foundation, said Trump impeachment proceedings should begin immediately.
ABC's cheap trick Ana Navarro called Trump's words "treasonous."
Even Judge Nap has been sucked in.
Asked by Fox's Shepard Smith if Trump had any "wiggle room" when it came to listening to a foreign entity offering information on a political opponent, Napolitano said no.Serial unmasker Susan Rice said Trump's not playing on the US team.Theres no wiggle room with respect to dirt, with respect to opposition research because the Federal Election Commission has already decided in other cases that that is a thing of value," he said, adding that it "comes from a statute which prohibits receipt of money or a thing of value from a foreign national. Whether the person is working for a foreign government or not.
Rice said, This is extremely serious. The stark reality, the sad truth is that we have a president in the United States whose not playing on Americas team. He is invited yet again foreign interference in our presidential elections. He said that and finally admitted, in fact, that he sees nothing wrong with collusion, which is in fact what happens when you accept information from a foreign entity. And he said he would do it again. He sees no problem with a president of the United States being beholden to a foreign power, even a foreign hostile power as inevitably one would be if you accepted information and support from a foreign government. They have their claws into you, and they can manipulate you.Joe Biden called taking foreign oppo research "dead wrong."
Then FEC Chairperson Ellen Weintraub dropped the hammer (I am not sure if this was wittingly or not)
Federal Elections Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub appeared to rebuke President Trump after he said he would be willing listen to foreign governments promising information on his political opponents.Remember all these words. They're going to be used again and all of the above may be called as witnesses. Against Hillary Clinton and the DNC. Their hatred of Trump has made them clueless and careless and Trump was counting on that. They did not let him (or me) down.Weintraub issued a statement Thursday night attempting to clarify federal law relating to political campaigns and foreign influence.
I would not have thought that I needed to say this, she said in a tweet with her statement.
"Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for anyone to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election, Weintraub said.
Anyone who solicits or accepts foreign assistance risks being on the wrong end of a federal investigation, she continued. Any campaign that receives an offer of a prohibited donation from a foreign source should report that offer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Here is the key point:
Donald Trump was not talking about himself. He was talking about Obama, Clinton and the DNC. He let the left make an iron clad case for charging Clinton and the DNC with felonies.

There’s also the issue of “receiving” something of value. If some foreigner hands me a check I can refuse to receive it and give it back to him. If some foreigner whispers a dirty secret in my ear, I can hardly refuse to hear it and give it back to him.
So in order for someone to be guilty of a crime there, it seems to me that there must be at least the possibility for them to have actively avoided committing a crime. How can you indict someone for something that happened to them in which they were a totally passive actor?
Thanks Starman417.
“Harumph, harumph, harumph!”
Next news cycle, please.
I kept thinking last night over and over again that Trump trolled the MSM with those comments about taking foreign intel during the 2020 campaign only to hear Hillary and entire cabal squawk about how corrupt Trump was going to be. They are too stupid to see the irony or the legal jepadory. By their own admission.
Free Popcorn upon A-d-M-I-S-S-i-o-n!
Shep and Nap should avoid using the word "sucked" and the phrase "wiggle room" when appearing together.
They're disgusting.
This is how the system works: if you pay the wife of a high ranking DOJ official to funnel bogus info to start a bogus investigation, that is perfectly legal. If you pay FBI informants to infiltrate and try to sting a campaign, that's perfectly legal. If you pay a scumbag like Glenn Simpson to set up a meeting to try to trap Don Jr to accepting foreign campaign contributions, that's all perfectly legal too. If nothing is accepted, no campaign contribution crime was committed. But Trump's hypothetical, info from Norway, that's the end of democracy.

Donald Trump is very fortunate in his enemies. The important ones are all unhinged and so easily manipulated.
CNN actually said last night it’s completely different because in Hillary’s case Americans asked for the information!
Can’t make this stuff up.
Clearly, whatever Herself did in obtaining the Steele “dossier” (bunch of lies) was not a casual call first to Herself. it was solicited, through a rather circuitous path, to be sure, but once the money trail is located, much easier to follow.
It WAS turned over to the FBI, but they used it for altogether inappropriate purposes and never vetted.
Donald Trump turned a $1 million loan into a multi-billion dollar fortune in the Manhattan commercial real estate market, one of the most cut-throat businesses on the planet. The guy doesn’t go to the bathroom without a plan, nor without Plans B, C and D in case Plan A doesn’t work out. People in DC, and frankly most people, don’t understand this about him. Oh, and the guy is literally out-thinking his opponents while they are sleeping.
Given the above, it is clear as day that he completely trolled all of his opposition. You think that he didn’t know that the brainless little Clinton toadie, Stephie, would try to lay a trap for him? You think that he didn’t know that the “right” answer was “of course I’d report it to the FBI?” No, he did this on purpose, KNOWING what the result would be...and wanting exactly that result.
We now have the Chairman of the FEC saying that receiving such information (just receiving it, just listening to it) is a violation of campaign finance laws. OK, fine. So if just listening to foreign sources of information is illegal, what does FINANCING such sources amount to? What does lying to the FISA Court about such a source of information amount to?
Trump laid his own trap, and quite masterfully at that. Every one of his opponents ran to jump in, like lemmings going over the cliff. They’re so stupid that even when they’re about to splat on the bottom, they still don’t understand that they’ve been had.
Mr. President, I’m STILL not tired of winning - you’ll have to try harder!
Exactly the whole purpose of this
Troll farm
Cant wait for him to say “the witch hunt is over, and we got her locked up now.”
The only thing bigger than the Left’s hatred for Trump, their own self-hatred for themselves. They know how despicable they are, no matter how much the media covers for them.
Yep.
But his hypothetical answer to the hypothetical question did not include solicitation or payment.
Trump is very good at politically playing poker and politically boxing. The Democrats and the MSM are good at accusations, destroying reputations and fortunes, and exterminating enemies when necessary.
When both sides start playing the same game, we will have a chance of winning. Otherwise, we will continue to think we have scored points, while our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor continue at risk. This will not be settled until either the opposition begins to play by the rules, or we conclude that war is the only alternative, and begin to act accordingly.
Hillary’s defense will be that she used private contractors to illegally research federal records that provided the basis for the Steele dossier.
“President Trump plays the media like a fiddle.”
Like a master playing a Stradivarius.
And that will get them. Their knew the value of the material beforehand, cause they created it. They are screwed now 6 ways from Sunday. Bring down the hammer.
