First, they’ll remove the 1st, on way to the 2nd. And Viscy conservatives applaud.

I noticed even my antivirus add-on was not working in Firefart this morning, along with lots of other things I have for blocking ads and malware.

I am trying new browsers today, even though I have other things I should be doing.

Just noticed a few minutes ago my adblock and ghostery add ons have been disabled.
I’m using an older version of firefox.

They’ve fixed their innocently stupid mistake. The fix is automatic if you have “studies” allowed under “privacy and security”. You can disable “studies” after the fix takes effect.

I gave up updating Firefox a long time ago, primarily because of numerous extensions/add-ons not working with new releases.

I am currently at FF ESR 52.4.

It will keep it, like Win7, until they quit working.

Why use a browser made by people that hate your guts? Mozilla's rabid SJW's chased off Brendan Eich, the guy that invented the tech that Firefox is built around (Javascript). You've got other options for both Windows and Mac and even Linux. Brave is a good browser built by Eich. Opera is a good commercial browser that uses Google's engine from Chrome (so you don't have to support them either).

Best of all, Microsoft's new version of Edge that's in testing right now casts aside it's own EdgeHTML engine and will use Google's engine from now on, but without Google's claws in it. That means Google's major competitor is now using it's own browser code to take market share away from Chrome. And after it's released for Windows 10, a version is coming that will work all the way back to Windows 7.

Looks like you are not alone. ‘Ouderkirk’ seems to also be having an issue with FF this morning. What’s up with that?

uBlock Origin is a good ad blocker and seems unaffected
Yes Script is a good javascript blocker for those auto-play videos and popups. It’s default state if Off and you turn it On per site.

It isn't censorship, just a stupid programming blunder by Mozilla engineers. They let a code signing certificate expire that the Firefox extension management code relies on.

That the blunder happened shows great weakness in their design approach. They trashed all their users at once, which is one of the best ways possible to kill off a software product.

There are some workarounds, and Mozilla is working to fix the problem. See this bug tracking thread for more information.

Isn’t Dissenter the group that turned over their user comments to reporters?

As soon as I learned of Dissenter, I knew this would be the counter-attack.

Mozilla did it to Brendan Eich, their guru. My question is, does Brave allow Dissenter?

I can think of no other browser that would host Dissenter !ong term than Eich’s.

(I will investigate that myself when I have time. I am just speculating right now.)
