If you still wondered what kind of opposition POTUS Donald Trump faces on a daily basis to any and all of his efforts to staunch the flow of illegal immigration and regain operational control over our southwest border, this will serve as just the latest example.
In a highly improper and extremely controversial move, the Marine Corps top commander, Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller, let a pair of internal memos leak to NBC News and the Los Angeles Times in an attempt to embarrass his commander-in-chief over is decision to shift some Pentagon funding to border wall construction, Newsweek is reporting.
In particular, Neller is upset that funding to repair one of the services two primary training bases, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, following Hurricane Florence which damaged more than 900 buildings at the base still hasnt arrived six months later.

The non-liberal generals were all either purged or resigned under Clinton in the 90s.
It's widely known that full bird colonel (O-6) is the last promotion based almost entirely on merit. Politics come into play beyond that.
I think a distinction should be made among general/flag officers that remain in leadership roles, such as brigade and division level. There is still accountability there, as they can be canned if their units can't maintain combat readiness.
It's at the Pentagon where accountability is lost, and politics reigns supreme. Best thing DoD could do would be to reduce the general billets by 75%.
I spent 8 years on active duty, left as a Captain. Every general officer that was in my chain of command was a true leader, whom I respected and trusted implicitly. I knew they had my back as well, and I remembered instances where they proved it to me.
One of the best days of my military career was when the Deputy CG of 32nd AADCOM stood up for a lowly 2nd LT. It was during a Department of the Army Nuclear Surety Inspection of a Nike Hercules battery. My job (an extra duty) was to assemble a 40 man platoon to support them should there be a terrorist attack.
I had 4 hours to assemble, equip, and issue live ammo, and get them to the site. We made it in 3 1/2 hours, and the first words I hear from the team chief is "where the hell have you been?" I couldn't effing believe it, and I got into it with the LT Colonel. I'd done this a half dozen times before, and I knew my stuff. My soldiers hadn't had infantry small unit tactics since boot camp, so I always took the extra time to provide refresher training.
Anyhow, the team chief made a few remarks at the outbriefing regarding our delay in arriving. After they departed, the DCG goes up to the podium...the first words he spoke were, "Lieutenant, I'll take that hit for you. Anytime you want to give your soldiers extra training, you have my express permission."
The Pentagon is part of the Swamp, and seriously needs to be drained.
This is an actionable offense.
Try a little research, cave man. The good General was doing exactly what hes paid to do. Go read the leaked memo for yourself.

The general was NOT doing his job.
There was nothing wrong with writing his letter, generals are expected to have an opinion that they share with their superiors but no one else. Leaking his disparaging memo should get him busted to Private and kill his retirement. If I could do that to him I would, he needs to suffer “bigly” for his offense and be an example to any others would pull such a stunt.
At the end of his second term perhaps the president could give it back but for now take it all away, he deserves it.
Yeller Neller doesnt want to protect America. He wants to train in Scotland and Norway and repaint LeJeune instead.
And parachute into a nice Silicon Valley/contractor BOD chair or three.
And it’s the second hit piece aimed at knee jerk idiots in as many months.
Interestingly, none of us “knee jerk idiots” sat on the BOD of scam corp Theranos. You need to face the reality that the military brass has failed in their duty to support the Pro-American policies of their CIC.
During Nam, one or more generals rotating out of Nam disregarded the waring that certain operators have priority missions and cannot be interfered with and may take whatever action needed to protect their mission up to and including deadly force.
Black eyes and busted teeth were the worst I heard about/saw/did.
25 years. You lose the bet.
I didnt say they werent useful
Your threatening (and illegal) response proves my point.
Your threatening (and illegal) response proves my point.
**** off.

Sack that POS Marine
Hit the bricks, Neller, NOW!
His successor has already been named.
The Marine Corps is the most politically active service and has been for years. They had to do it to survive. Between life as the poor step sister of the Navy, and rivalries among the other services, the Marines have teetered on the brink of extinction several times.
Read about the Chowder Society if you want to how they have operated since WWII.
This isn't some sort of TS eyes only memo to his boss. About ten gazillion bureaucrats are involved and have access to the letter that explains the impacts of the proposed budget action.
You have no clue who leaked the memo. I would be 99 to 1 that if you ever could figure out it was certainly not the General, nor any responsible officer who reported to the general acting on an understanding with the general that the memo should be "let leaked."
The whole massive deep state swamp in the DOD should be under your suspicious eye, not the General.
You and your fellow travelers need to try thinking for a change instead.
Trump won’t fire him, he’ll ask him to retire. That’s the way they allow general officers an opportunity to save face. Seen it many times.
rwood
But he did WRITE THE MEMO, which is probably actionable on it's own.
He needs to be gone.
So, letting an internal memo leak to the DNC propaganda arm, the press, is now part of the job of a general?
Had the CMC not alerted his superior to the precarious state of readiness of the Marine Corps he could have been charged with gross negligence. He certainly could have incurred the outrage of his entire chain of command, his commander-in-chief and perhaps the entire nation.
It seems unlikely he leaked the memos; however, given the current Dem Socialist frontal attack on our government, we are talking bare knuckle politics with our national security.
Thats the beauty of free speech, everyone gets to have and express an opinion.
I served 25 years in the military protecting the right to free speech. So I guess I am entitled to my opinion.
Obozo shit-canned most of the more conservative leaning Flags.
