TRUMP IN CHARGE: Could WW2 Have Been Avoided?

Posted on 02/28/2019 6:31:09 AM PST by DIRTYSECRET

Temperature is down with the Norks so I'm beginning to think so. He's certainly no Chamberlin. He would have left Japan alone to let them be the big brother of Asia. The Hearst News Syndicate would have been told to go pound sand.

Ironically, when Hitler came to power, he saw England and Poland both as potential allies.

He greatly admired, the then-Polish leader, Marshal Pilsudski, because he knew how anti-Russian he was, and that he was prepared to allow Poland some of the spoils, if they joined the Nazis against the Soviets, of course returning Danzig and The Corridor to the Reich, would have been part of the deal, but Poland stood to gain areas of the Ukraine.

And as for England, Hitler knew they had no love for the Bolsheviks, so he figured it would be a slam dunk, especially if he had no claims on the British Empire.

Hitler just couldn’t conceive why both refused to ally with him, and he never forgave them for it.

Say WHAT?

Are you not aware of what Japan was doing for the sixty years before WWII?

War with Japan was inevitable. They wanted the entire Pacific Rim and, in case you failed to notice that includes the entire West Coast of the Americas.

I recently read a book about Charles Lindbergh's opposition to American entry into WWII ( Charles A. Lindbergh and the battle against American intervention in World War II and am currently reading another for balance. (If balance is needed. I don't know. Those Angry Days.)

My overwhelming impression from the first book is that Lindbergh didn't get along with the Press anytime after he made his historic flight. First it was just a privacy issue, but as the drums were rollin' for war it became a political issue. FDR, mostly through Ickes, had his lackeys in the Press crucify Lindbergh. The parallels with what is going on with Trump seem clear.

Now the impression of most is the Lindbergh was a Nazi and an anti-Semite. The same is regularly said about Donald Trump, but my impression is that these aren't true for either.

Lindbergh had huge support and he may well have kept us out of WWII until the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor when all opposition about entering the war collapsed, including Lindbergh's.

Hitler did NOT want to go to war with the US.

Then why did he declare war on us?

We did not declare war on him and there was a good chance we would not have done so. Japan was our enemy, Germany was a maybe. There was a major push to keep us out of the war in Europe, at least until Japan was dealt with.

But Hitler declared war on the US and at that point the argument became moot.

Whether we were their enemy, they had decided to become ours.

Then why did he declare war on us?

Because the Russians were kicking his ass, and he hoped Japan would help him out with the Russians.

As far as Germany was concerned, after FDR’s ‘Arsenal of Democracy’ speech, they considered themselves at war with the US for all intents and purposes.

World War Two in Asia began when Japan murdered Queen Min of Korea in 1895.

Although there is an argument to be made for 1872 when Japan invaded Okinawa.

Hitler wanted to be a GREAT BIG FISH in a GREAT BIG Pond.

Kim wants to be a FAT thuggy fish in an itty bitty little pond.

Sanctions hurt North Korean peasants and slaves more than than the vodka and caviar consuming NK fat thug and his NK Deep State’ sycophants...

(The solution verges on obvious.)

So he thought opening up a war on still another front would be a good idea in the hopes that Japan would go to war with Russia. Japan was interested in the Pacific Rim. And Russia controlled very little of it.

If he thought that he was a fool.

BS.

Or they would have declared war on us earlier.

Your first guess was more likely.

No because the Japanese and Germans wanted to steal what we have and sooner or later they would have come after the BIG PRIZE which was and always is us.

The Germans sunk the Reuben James in October of 1941, we almost declared war on them then.

FDR knew it was only a matter of time.

Once Britain declared War on Japan, it was a moot point, since all restrictions on aid to Britain were gone.

With all the Jews in the US, it’s highly unlikely that Hitler would have gone through all the trouble of exterminating European Jews, without ultimately wanting to deal with the Jews in the US, if he had the chance. So ultimately the US would have been a target.

Britain was already engaged against Japan and we were giving aid to Britain.

I don’t think Japan went to war against Britain until it declared war on us—Dec. 7/8, 1941. Japan couldn’t safely expand towards IndoChina as long as we held the Philippines—just look at a map to see why. Once our fleet was taken out in Hawaii, the Philippines were only a matter of time. Hong Kong, British Malaya, the Dutch East Indies were next.

"Germany was sinking our ships, eventually enough would have been enough and we would have gotten dragged into the war.”

B/c we were sinking German ships because Roosevelt wanted to get the US into another European war.

Well, thanks to the Japs, we backed into WW2 because Hitler thought America was full of gangsters, mulattoes and cowboys(he was a avid moviegoer) and declared war on us, without an effective way to destroy our factories.

Big mistake.

"Germany and Japan were stupid for thinking they could take us on. ”

Given the state of our forces(navy/army) they took a chance because we had to patrol two oceans, which we could not do effectively with what we had at the time and the army was a pitiful shell of what was needed to fight.

It was the then idled industrial might that Tojo and Hitler badly underestimated.

It was a gamble and they lost.

Bigly.

"I WOULD NOT. ”

Yep! The original America First legions were already very strong in America. And given the foreknowledge of an ungrateful modern European, President Lindberg would have kept America out of the European Theater.

Of course, Seeing that the i-pad thingy is a two way street and modern Europeans might rethink their attitude if they knew the hell they would have if we sat out the war.

America First made a heck of a lot of sense when it was assumed it was going to be another stalemate, like WWI.

But once France fell, and it became clear that the Germans were on the verge of prevailing, that’s when they began to lose supporters.
