Shameless Self Promotion: Read my book
Amazon | Feb. 20, 2019 | Philip Allen

Posted on 02/22/2019 2:58:20 AM PST by Fai Mao

Disclaimer #1: I believe that standard practice on Free Republic is to donate $10.00 for a pure vanity post. I just donated $25 for this post. If Jim Robinson thinks this is inappropriate he may remove it with no hard feelings.

Disclaimer #2: I realize some members here want nothing to do with Amazon.com. That’s fine you don’t have to tell us about how you don't use Amazon on this thread.

This weekend, from Saturday until Wednesday my latest crime novel will be free in electronic format from Amazon.

Yes, I am doing this to generate reviews and drive up traffic. That’s why I paid $25.00 for the vanity post. In order for the algorithm to keep allowing the book to appear in people's searches I need 10 positive reviews in 60 days. That can be hard to get if your name isn't Clive Cussler.

However, it should be said here that I am only publishing this free download promotion on Free Republic and to my family. So it isn’t like I am some huge commercial outfit. But, if I get 10 good reviews out of this the next time I do it I'll donate $50.00.

If you would like to read the book on either Kindle or any type of PC/MAC then you may download it from Amazon for free this weekend.

I have only one request. If you read the book and like it, please take a few minutes to place a review at the Amazon site. If you read it and don’t like it then have some mercy on a fellow Freeper and refrain from doing so.

The title of the work is: Master of all the Stars: The rise of True Astrology

This is a crime novel about a criminal conspiracy, not a detective story. There is no all-knowing yet flawed detective with a wise-cracking sidekick. You can read the blurb at Amazon and read most of the first chapter as well. Be aware there is no hero, if you want to see the good guys win you have to wait until next book. This is also a book for adults. Not that it is pornographic or gratuitously violent or bloody but it portrays bad people doing bad things and their language and behaviors are not whitewashed.

My pen name is: Dr. Philip Allen Here is a link to the Kindle edition: Master of All the Stars

If for some reason it ask you to pay $2.99 then send me a private message here with an email and I'll get you a PDF copy.

Thanks FRends

As a rule, FR does not accept advertising. I think this post should be pulled on principle. I regularly donate a lot more than that without any expectation of recompense, other than Jim Rob’s invaluable efforts.

If you had made this post without mentioning donations I would not mind. Or if you had donated (like many of us) without promoting a book. I think the regular supporters of FR should be offended.

When significant numbers click on your Amazon page and do not *buy* or download, it negatively affects your ranking.

In a perfect world, I would agree with you, and FR would be populated with outstanding posts and outstanding posters—but I should recall Groucho Marx’s advice to never join a club that would have you as a member (a paraphrase, I admit).

This isn’t the highest quality post on FR—but there are a lot worse than don’t get pulled, and honesty is admirable. And advertising a give away that may eventually generate modest compensation for a time consuming hobby isn’t exactly commercial advertising.

If only folks would actually donate...super that you felt the obligation and acted on it but too many never donate a cent or maybe rest on the fact that they donate $5 three years ago.
Except for those who truly can’t afford it, I think that unless one averages at least $10 a month, they shouldn’t have posting/commenting privileges....of course, many of the deadbeat FReeloaders take exception to my belief that if one is supposedly a constitutional conservative they should also act as responsibly as real conservatives and not act like the leftists they yowl about...of course, there is the issue about one using FR as their own capitalist venture...we have one noted writer who often offers his work free to those who see it on FR.

FICTION is FREE

Amazon gives their fiction away for FREE.
Supply and Demand when the supply is unlimited, this shows what the electronic internet has wrought. Since the internet birth, that Al Gore invented, the result has been monopoly concentration of power to the Big Tech elite.

Publishers have died out. Facebook Zuckerberg actually threatened Publishers, that he would crush them.

Big Tech is the Approval Board, these drunks and drug addicts, are the masters approving what you will read.

Your professor gurus, your teachers are really nothing but drunks and addicts. That is really what they offer.
