"Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country..."
Central to political persuasion is the usage of words in modern language, how traditional definitions are subverted until the word means the opposite of the original intent. What is fascinating is how, by the time the word is accepted under its new guise, it is still emotionally connected to its origin.
Trigger words for today have long since been undergoing a slow transformation that has actually switched definitions but not the emotional attachment to what it once meant. As twisted as this sounds, its primary to converting and controlling public opinion. As an ideal illustration of this phenomenon are two words bandied about by media, politicians and pundits: Liberal and Reactionary.
If we ever are a socialist country we will have ceased to be the USA.
Tell your college kids that it's not fair for them to have straight A's and some other students who don't care about their grades only get C's and D's, so they will have their A's taken away and average everyone out to C's.
I think they like the word Socialism because they LOVE Social Media!

Ocasio-Cortez, herein refered to as The Donkey’s nasty little secret.
This is just another communist organizing group painted green.
You have to teach your OWN kids about it first, and prep them long before they reach college. Before high school even.
Otherwise, they get there and have their impressionable brains turned to soup.
Too many parents have ZERO clue about what is being done to their kids by the liberals who run the schools.
In short, the Overton Window is moving.

True. But the actual big switch occurred during the 1920s, when the word for the FReeper perspective was stolen. Before 1920, liberal referred to people who are now slandered as conservative. Yes, I do say, slandered. We are conservative of the freedom of the people. But conserving freedom means protecting the right to do new things, and to do old things in new ways. The Constitution encourages Congress to promote the progress of science and the useful arts, and conservatives have no problem with progress of, by, and for the American people. The people who hijacked the word liberal most certainly do. The progress they promote is of, by, and for the agents of government.
