While I have always been an ardent supporter of the Conservative media and blogosphere, it is often frustrating to see Conservative pundits fall into the trap of lending legitimacy to the Left's talking points, even when they think they're challenging these talking points.
The issue of "White privilege" is a perfect example of this. Instead of thoroughly debunking the notion of White privilege, I have witnessed people whom I respect and admire, like Jordan Peterson and Laura Ingraham, making the argument that "yes, maybe White people do enjoy some privilege, but how do you measure and quantify exactly how much privilege a particular White person benefits from?".
The reality is, the notion of White privilege takes a fundamental truth, and turns it on it's head. It's not that White people are treated better than everybody else, it's that Black people, particularly young Black males, are subjected to more suspicion and scrutiny than any other demographic. And it's not just because they're Black. It's the combination of being young, Black, and male.
For a large chunk of the 20th century, America's immigration policy was completely Asian-phobic. No immigration from China was allowed between 1890 and 1965. No immigration from the entire Asian continent was allowed between 1917 and 1965. And between America's involvement in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam war, it was commonplace for people to use all kinds of slurs to refer to people from East Asia.
Yet over the past 50 years, we have welcomed millions of immigrants from all over Asia, along with lots of other Hispanic and Middle Eastern immigrants, all of whom have been subjected to less bigotry than Italian and Irish immigrants were subjected to in the 19th and early 20th century.
Yet there's one thing that White, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and even many Black Americans all have in common (as Jesse Jackson once famously affirmed)......wariness of young Black males in certain situations.
This same wariness does not apply to older Black people, especially older Black women, whom most Americans view as warm, kind, and religious. But the Left doesn't want people to have conversations about why young Black males are singled out for scrutiny and suspicion, unless they want to make the singular argument that cops are hunting down young Black males because they're murderous racists.
An honest conversation about the dysfunctional behavior of many young, Black males would acknowledge the role of absentee fathers and horrible inner city public schools. But since the Left is both anti-nuclear family and super duper pro teachers union, they don't want people having this kind of conversation.
So what they do instead is to, firstly, make the false claim that all Black people are subjected to the same level of suspicion and scrutiny that young, Black males are subjected to. From there, they then make the false argument that if Black people are subjected to a higher level of suspicion and scrutiny, then it logically follows that White people are treated better than all people of color.
But reality tells us otherwise. Asian, and many Hispanic and Middle Eastern immigrants have been quickly climbing the American ladder of success over the past few decades. Many formerly White suburban neighborhoods in major metropolitan areas have been taken over by Asians. There is a perception among both Asian immigrants as well as immigrants from the Iron Curtain that people who have the good fortune to be born in America don't take advantage of the opportunities that this country has to offer. They think Americans are undisciplined, lazy, and too preoccupied with having fun during leisure time. They're certainly not complaining about White privilege.
So here's the bottom line: Go into any busy department store on a weekend afternoon in any place that has a racially diverse clientele. On one hand, you can be assured that the security guards will be keeping an extra close eye on the young, Black males. However, the notion that the sales people will all be rushing to help the White customers before they help any Chinese, Korean, Indian, Hispanic, West Indian, or Middle Eastern customers is completely false.
60 years ago, when Black people were pretty much the only racial minority in America, with the exception of a very small Asian and Hispanic population in a few key cities, you could make a valid argument in favor of White privilege. But as the likes of Micheal Moore, and other Leftists, celebrate the fact that America has become much more racially diverse, and within a few decades there will no longer be a White majority, it's fair game to point our attention towards how all these new non-White Americans are being treated.
They seem to be doing just fine, thank you. East Indian and Korean immigrants have higher per capita earnings than White people, and everyone else, and are tied with Jews. College admissions offices are setting higher academic standards for Asian students than they do for White students. These Left wing administrators privately tell each other "those damn Asian bookworms act even Whiter than White people do".
So the next time someone tries to lecture you about White privilege, don't be afraid to give them the lowdown......yes, there's no question that a young, Black male, who's a straight A student and all around good kid, might be mistaken for a thug if he walks around in a hoodie and baggy pants, late at night. And that's unfortunate. But that does not mean that everybody rolls out the red carpet for White people, and treats everyone else like 2nd class citizens.
That's a bald face lie. And it's time for people from our side to stop giving this lie any kind of legitimacy whatsoever, and expose White privilege for the dishonest rhetorical sleight of hand that it is.
I was privileged to work at age 12....everyday during the school year.

Ever notice that the people who complain the most about “privilege” are the ones who have the most?
I know it was a 'different time,' but from the time I was about 10 years old, I was shoveling snow (talk about white privilege!), mowing lawns, delivering newspapers (40+ papers a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year for 4 years - at 5:30 in the morning). My brother was the same way, and our 2 sisters and we all babysat for neighbors. We did this while being put through Catholic high school on my father's car salesman salary. They went without lots of things on our behalf.
So to those who claim I had white privilege, I have but one thing to say...
It's open to anyone. Get an education, get a job, get married and stay married.
It's as simple as that.
The most profitable "business" that we had was "worms"...which we sold to the bait shop at a penny each. We would pick 300 at a crack.

Lol. My husband was privileged to be in the middle of a family of seven. At thirteen he worked three jobs, delivered newspapers in the morning, worked for a florist after school, and washed dishes at a diner from 10pm until done. Also privileged to have had his first bypas surgery at 43, major heart attack at 46, Heart transplant at 64 and he is still working. (He is truly privileged to have survived his heart issues so not complaining)
Screw their white privilege, we’ve been paying our taxes our entire lives to keep lazy a$$es who now call us privileged, to collect their welfare.

I would add someone who buys home is invested in the neighborhood more than someone who rents.
We always considered work to be fun...and we became “clever” to make even more profit. My bro and I bought extra Sunday papers....and stood outside of church. We easily sold them plus tips. They would have had to go to the Drugstore on the corner. The Good Thieves!!

Is all of this “white privilege” nonsense going to backfire and turn whites into “the elite” in everyone else’s eyes?
There was an article in The Atlantic today about football and how white kids are turning away from football because of the fear of brain trauma. The article was mostly about this black family.
The mother is 31, and her sons are 11, 12, and 14. She is working on her GED, and has a job working nights in a warehouse. The family lives in a small prefab house in a small town in rural Georgia. One of the kids is named Jyqwayvin and one is named Marqwayvian. There are at least three last names represented in this household. The mother is hoping that her sons can get football scholarships.
On the one hand I feel for these people, but on the other hand, their problems are of their own making and blaming white people is ridiculous.
Names ending in -ian are often Armenian (like George Deukmejian).
Let's hope that when Marqwayvian applies to Ivy League colleges, his application isn't processed by someone who is prejudiced against Armenians.

I agree. It comes down to your outlook. Maybe you had friends that had families that never made them work and maybe you had to get a job and work your butt off. Were they privileged not having to work or were you privileged to gain experiences they did not?
Someone once told me that life is filled with experiences, both good and bad, and how we react to these experiences shapes who we are.
Blacks who act “white” also enjoy white privilege.
