We are losing more and more of our rights under feel good laws that do absolutely no good
The country has been tending towards a police state for some time. Nowhere are the losses of individual rights accepted by so many people as when these rights are taken away in order to combat drinking and driving. The new amendments to the Criminal Code that came into effect on Dec. 18, are not only draconian but some of the provisions border on the absurd. While some in the media have addressed the fact these amendments infringe upon peoples rights, little has been said about whether or not these changes to the law will be effective.
Under the old law, police who lawfully stopped a motorist could demand breath samples be given into a roadside screening device only if the officer had a reasonable suspicion the driver had alcohol in his or her system. The reasonable suspicion would be formed if the officer could smell alcohol or observe other indicia of impairment. The new law does away with the need of reasonable suspicion. Any driver who is lawfully stopped by a police officer can be required to provide breath samples even if there is no evidence the person had been drinking.
Today it’s drinking, tomorrow it’s guns.
Used to be able to out to a nice restaurant, have a few martinis, enjoy a fine dinner and cigar afterwards. No more.
Will this cover Trudeau’s WEED ?
“Today its drinking, tomorrow its guns.”
They pretty much got the guns in Canada already.
Today its drinking, tomorrow its your DNA... and face recognition scan.
You still can.

The few I’ve ridden with I’d want to be half in the bag!
Give me a break.
All this means is that Molson and Labatt will suffer
while everyone on the Trans-Canada will be wasted on pot.
(They already are.)
F Canada
Going out to a restaurant to order a meal which any decent cook can prepare at home, proves only that the same meal tastes better with a restaurant wrapped around it. Tipping not required at home and it’s much quieter.
Wines and cocktails when eating out are a total ripoff, unless on a cruise ship where it’s far worse.
Can’t address cigars since I quit long ago.
As for alcohol testing w/o probable cause, that does point to a police state in the making where they look for something to charge you with. At least where I live, presenting your CCW with your license makes for a mild encounter usually with a warning instead of a ticket.
Canada’s not disarmed, far from it. But having to apply for a license to merely possess makes one a person of interest in the eyes of the law. And if Canada is like Britain, self defense is not a valid reason to either own or use a firearm to that purpose.
I think you should be able to drink and drive so you can get home. BUT, you should be restricted to 12 MPH with 4 way flashers on...and no freeways.
Ok, maybe you’ll cause a wreck. But at that point, if you get hit by a guy going 12 mph with 4 way flashers on, that’s really kinda on you.
Every liberal is a violent totalitarian thug.

Regarding DWI laws:
When I grew up [I am now 60] in NYC every neighborhood precinct had Patrolmen on foot patrol. They knew us, and we knew them.
If a neighborhood person was ‘tipsy’ the would tell us to get home safe - if a good person, (known by the Officers) was inebriated, they would often follow that driver home, as an escort. If a person was totally plastered, it was at the Patrolman’s prerogative - arrest, or put him in a precinct cell until he was sober enough to drive...
The effect will be to arrest and prosecute more people, turning them into bleating sheep.
Meanwhile, Canada is welcoming the bearded savage crowd, which will do much more damage than the drunk drivers.

On Jan 1st, in Ontario Canada, a new Distracted Driving Law went into effect. If, while driving, you are seen on a cell phone, eating in the car, fiddling with the radio etc you will be given a ticket with a minimum $1,000 fine. If you are caught three times, you lose your license. No one is in favor of distracted driving but the police are going overboard. They will be riding in SUV’s, short buses etc so they can look down into cars as they go by and get a better look at what’s going on. Don’t the police have better things to do?

THERE IS NO UBER IN VANCOUVER CANADA. Yes, I know. It’s stupid but the taxi lobby bought all the local politicians to bar them from operating in at least, the province of BC. and how do I know this? I just returned from Christmas vacation.
They dont operate in Vancouver. I just came back from there during Christmas. Same sh*t since 2016. The local taxi lobby and transportation ministry bought all the local politicians to ban them or any Lyft-like operation.
No, no, they do not.
Canada is now a Police State yet they keep going further left.
At some point America will be in a war with the communista’s in Canada. Perhaps we will be helping the freedom fighters at the time if we haven’t been taken over by the Rat communists.
