Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
That moment when all the liberal, rich New York Times subscribers on the Upper East Side sat up and said “hey, wait, that’s us!” – Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, who is fast replacing Bernie Sanders as Marxism’s favorite stalking horse in the United States, sat down for an interview on 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper on Sunday, and hilarity predictably ensued.
First, our intrepid dancing heroine was, as always, completely unable to explain how she would pay for the $40 Trillion-plus price tag for her “Green New Deal” set of proposals, because of course she couldn’t – she’s a Marxist after all, and an incredibly ignorant and ill-informed one to boot. When asked for an explanation by Cooper, she offered only a dodge:
“No one asks how we’re gonna pay for this Space Force. No one asked how we paid for a $2 trillion tax cut.”
“We only ask how we pay for it on issues of housing, health care and education,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “How do we pay for it? With the same exact mechanisms that we pay for military increases for this Space Force. For all of these– ambitious policies.”
Oh. But she did offer a bit of a clue – and a warning for all of you wealthy liberals who think she’s just a cute, good-hearted gal from Queens or the Bronx or whichever burrough of New York City raised her to think the crazy things she does – later in the interview, when she said this:
“You know if you look at our tax rates back in the 60s and you have a progressive tax rate system, the tax rate from zero to $75,000 may be 10%, 15% etc. But once you get to the tippy-tops on your $10 million, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70%. That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more.”
So, for those “tippy-toppers” living in those muti-million dollar condos with wonderful views of Central Park in Manhattan who are already forking over more than 12% of your income in New York’s lovely state and local income taxes, that means that your new hero wants you to fork over more than 82% of your income each year to the various government entities that rule your lives.
Here’s reality: The Democrat Party has become the party of the rich in America during the first 18 years of the 21st century, as more and more rich people of European heritage assuage their “white guilt” by voting for people who specialize in reciting talking points designed to make them feel increasingly guilty. These are the people who elected AOC, and if they keep re-electing her long enough she is eventually going to come and take it all away from them, because – and read this closely because it’s important – THAT IS WHAT MARXISTS DO.
It is what Marxists have always done, from Lenin to Stalin to Mao to Castro to that thug strongman who is starving his people to death today down in Venezuela. THIS IS WHO THEY ARE.
Unlike Bernie Sanders, AOC has the advantage of being young and cute and able to release videos of herself dancing on a rooftop while she was in college. Heck, she almost seems like a normal human being at times because of all of that.
But the best meme I saw on Twitter this past week was this one:
That’s right: Stalin was young once, too. He was Russia’s AOC, around the turn of the 20th century. As you can see from that photo, probably taken around 1900, he was a handsome young man, and no doubt an idealistic one who his friends thought was all hip and cool and stuff. He could probably even dance, too, although the technology did not then exist to provide us video evidence of it. That “60 million” number is probably an exaggeration, but there is no question that millions upon millions of human lives were lost because of this one man and his pursuit of his ideology, the basis of which is supposed to be “equality” for everyone.
But everything about socialism/communism/Marxism – whatever one wishes to call it – is a lie. What it really represents is misery for everyone, as the people starving in Venezuela as you read this understand. The people pushing this “misery for all” philosophy can never explain how they would pay for all of their policies or anything else about them with anything resembling facts or truth because there are no facts or truth that supports them.
Which is of course what led to this final bit of hilarity in our cute heroine’s interview with Cooper. When asked by Cooper about having been repeatedly called out even by the leftist media and her Democrat colleagues for repeated lies, she responded with one of her cute giggles and said:
“Oh my goodness,” an incredulous Ocasio-Cortez said.
“If people want to really blow up one figure here or one word there, I would argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees,” she said. “I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.”
Thus, the promotion of equalized misery for everyone becomes the “morally right” thing to do. How very Marxist of her.
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is not a monster yet, because she has no power. We enjoy making fun of her today because she makes it so darn easy to do. No doubt, lots of people made fun of Stalin when he was 29, too, and nobody thought Nancy Pelosi was anything particularly special when she was 29, either.
Cortez was elected almost by accident, beating long-time incumbent Joe Crowley in the Democrat primary with just 16,898 votes in the heavily-Democrat congressional district. If the people in her district keep sending her back to congress long enough, she could eventually accumulate power and become able to hold the nation hostage to her insane policies just as Pelosi is doing today in her quest for open borders.
So laugh at AOC today, but know that she won’t be a laughing matter if she’s still on the national stage 20 years from now. Every Marxist monster in history was young once.

I’m glad to see someone asking these sorts of questions. We’re supposed to believe that Ocasio-Cortez was a bartender chick who accidentally got elected, and then all of a sudden shows up with a detailed comprehensive plan (Green New Deal) to finish the conversion of our Republic into a Communist state.
I call bullsh*t on the whole thing. Her election is no more spontaneous than the rise of an unknown black Illinois Senator to the presidency was a few years back.
While we’re all laughing at her dancing videos and silly comments she’s marketing a new, cute, hip Communism to an entire generation.
At least she’s willing to call herself a Socialist, unlike the rest of that party that has the same goals.
And they’re buying it. Wake up America!
The bartender gig just paid the bills and gave her time during the day to be a “community organizer” while campaigning for Bernie Sanders.
She’s a waste of our time. We’ll regret giving her attention when the 2nd American Civil War breaks out. The real bad guys are at work in her shadow.
I have faint feeling that Young Stalin (what a Hollywood movie that would make!) was just a tad brighter or shrewder than the dancing girl.

Equality of Opportunity is a fine thing. It's what the Founders tried to give us.
Equality of Outcome is what Marxism is all about. Always. And you can only achieve that goal through mass murder, tyranny, and equalized misery for a subservient population. This has been proven so many times in so many countries over the course of more than 100 years.
Anyone mouthing Marxist ideas should be pushed off the stage instantly. It is utterly indefensible.

Growing up in the 50s, with ‘duck and cover’, and looking up at contrails and wondering whose they were, and if tomorrow was the day, I think about the countless misery and bloodshed that could have been avoided if maybe ten people had died in their 20s, instead of all of the people that died because of them! Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Moa, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, etc.
We have here, another one of those potential mass murderers on center stage, and beloved of the nuanced elite.

Another problem with these ignorant millennials, they want their student loan debt forgiven and basically for earners to pay for their 4-8 years of hanging out at college getting worthless degrees because they didn’t want to work.

One big difference between the early 20th century and this period in history is that the rapid and extensive flow of information means ideas that simply don't work will be exposed as unworkable very quickly.
The idiocy espoused by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a perfect example of a political philosophy that doesn't even make for interesting conversation in a coffee shop -- except among morons in Starbucks who are still hung over from the previous night.
