Probably less demand, so it does not benefit from price reduction based on high volume.

Heating oil has not come down much at all. It is still higher than it was in the summer.

Got gas at Costco today and paid $3.16 a Gallon for 87 Octane. That’s at least $.20 a Gallon Cheaper than most Gas Stations around here.
Welcome to California.

Buy some in Bridgeport on 395. Last fourth of July it was $4.99/gal. I filled up in Carson City and still had plenty to get back to Reno.

Why is Diesel ~ $1/gal more than gas? Two reasons: taxes and EPA requirements for ultra low-sulfur diesel, which increases the production cost of diesel significantly.
Diesel used to be a simple by-product of gasoline production.

Fed tax differential = $0.06/gal.
I thought that Gasoline was due to get a mandated Sulfur reduction too.
Diesel used to be ~ $0.15 to $0.30/gal more than gas. Now it is sometimes over a Buck higher.
The only reason for that that I could see is if the US is exporting Diesel overseas in ever increasing volume. (we used to swap gasoline and Diesel with Europe, but I don’t know what is going on with that these days.)

Welcome to California.
My late mom, in California, couldn’t understand why gas in MO was always more than $1/gal cheaper than in CA. Yet CA has loads of oil wells, while MO, not so much. Might have something to do with state government politics.
Just filled up at $1.89/gal.
