Probably less demand, so it does not benefit from price reduction based on high volume.

Why is Diesel ~ $1/gal more than gas?

Two reasons: taxes and EPA requirements for ultra low-sulfur diesel, which increases the production cost of diesel significantly.

Diesel used to be a simple by-product of gasoline production.

They burn more diesel...

Once upon a time, N2FO was $.02 lower than 87 oxy gasoline...
