George Herbert Walker Bush always referred to his wife Barbara as the Enforcer. So it comes as no surprise that, at her insistence, God called him home she was determined that under no circumstances was George to spend his 94th Christmas without her.
Barbara and George met at a Christmas dance when she was 16 and he, a naval aviator in training, was just 17. Thus began a 76 year love affair that lasted till Barbaras death at 92 last April.
So while you can be six for a very long time indeed, you cant be six forever.
And when all the dust is settled and all the crowds are gone, the things that matter are faith, family, and friends. We have been inordinately blessed, and we know that. George Herbert Walker Bush
Godspeed, sir.

Rest in Peace, Mr. President
Good man, war hero, one or two big political mistakes. God bless.
Well done. Thanks for posting.
Welcome to your “New World Order” Mr. President
Alinsky Works for Us Today.
What the hell is THAT all about?
How long will I have to listen to eulogies
for the anti-Trump, new world order, Reagan screwing swamp toad?
China, NAFTA, New World Order, Clintons, the list goes on but the Bush’s no longer matter.
Except for his New World Order, his was a noble life.
PUKEFest
I think that tht there needs to be a FR rule that there shall be no negative comments about a person for 24 hours after their death. We, as conservatives (and some as people of faith), are supposed to be respectful if traditional norms...well, one of those is to give a decent interval after a person dies for the family, etc. to deal with the loss.
I, myself, had and have many criticisms of GHWB for his decisions and attitudes, but today isn’t the day to air them.
I’m sure they’re already flying the flags at half-mast at that little airport in Mena, Arkansas.
Thankyou for an excellent comment. There are about six threads on President Bush’s death and I cannot stomach the vitriol expressed by some FReepers. The hatred has no place on a Christian forum.
If Johnny Rotten can be that way, I think I can follow suit.
RIP to fine gentleman.
Amen......this is the only thread I clicked on because I know what to expect and it's sad.
He was a good man and a war hero.
RIP, President Bush Sr.
The very first thing I thought of when I heard was at last, he can be with his Barb again. The time must have seemed interminable. Just imagine their faces when they see each other again.
O.K.
What other “rules” do you want to establish regulating free speech?
Perhaps we shoildn’t discuss the Civil War, because that offends some people.
Maybe we shouldn’t criticize Islam.
How about criticism of the current pope?
Maybe there should be a standing committee to identify subjects that are out of bounds because they may offend people.
Gratuitous glee at the death of anyone is classless. But if you want me to elucidate all the genuine reasons to feel very bitter about this man and his entire family, let me know.
The coverage of the Bushes will be extensive this weekend and I do not intend to watch any of it. But I would never think of stifling individuals right to
praise him as its THEIR free speech.
I think you have to be very careful when it comes to criticizing ANYONE’s free speech otherwise you wind up sounding like an Antifa thug. It’s what they believe.
