Profiles in Absurdity: Jim Acosta as First Amendment ‘Hero’
American Greatness ^ | 18 Nov 2018 | Mark ulliam

The latest theatrics involving Jim Acosta, the left-wing political activist posing as a CNN reporter, perfectly illustrate the reasons why ordinary Americans despise the Beltway swamp: anti-Trump propaganda masquerading as journalism, rude and arrogant “reporters” engaged in 24/7 “resistance,” a federal judiciary so thoroughly dominated by liberal opinion that even Republican-appointed judges parrot the views of their ideological captors, and vain lawyers so eager for praise by the Acela Corridor establishment that they are willing to betray principle and common sense to receive accolades from fashionable elites.

The underlying facts are by now well-known: The insufferable Acosta, surely the most obnoxious “correspondent” ever to hold a White House press pass—a dubious distinction in a competition that includes Sam Donaldson (ABC) and the late Helen Thomas (UPI), among others—had his credentials suspended after a particularly abrasive encounter with President Trump at a November 7 presser. In a widely publicized incident, Acosta harangued at length, refused to relinquish the microphone when directed to do so, and pushed away a young female intern who was trying to pass the mic to another reporter.

The media likely can’t stand Acosta, but the HATE Trump, so an enemy of their enemy is their friend.

How about when CNN covered up torture, abuse, and murder under Saddam Hussein to keep their Baghdad Bureau.

Such courage

Acosta has won a Pyrrhic Victory. One that will cost the Press in ways they will not like.

I thought the decision the judge made was not based on the 1st Amendment? How can he be a 1st Amendment hero?

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the judge basically said the process to take his pass was not fair, and he should have been warned before that.

I think much more is being made of this than exists.

A US District Court Judge made a ruling based upon a 1970s Appellate ruling. He had no choice; that's what we expect of judges.

The Appeals Court precedent was execrable. A lot of 1970s precedent was (think Roe V Wade.)

It should be appealed. But don't make this decision more than it is.

Acosta serves a useful for two executives in the Mainstream Media.

Jeff Zucker, CEO of CNN and
Randall Stephenson, CEO of AT&T

I’d like Trump to flip the story a bit. Have him say, “I don’t Jim Acosta. I blame Randall Stephenson.”

A couple weeks of that and you’d see a change.

However, Trump also wants to show the contrast and create a bigger enemy of CNN than they are. So Acosta serves that purpose. Too bad Acosta has more brains than Mad Maxine.

LOL, the media misreports and lies about every story that Trump is involved with. Yes, this was a 5th amendment TEMORARY retraining order. The media is corrupt, totally off the rails of truth.

The Court ruled against their being any 1st Amendment issue here.

But, because he was too gutless to slap down the Press as they so richly deserved, the Judge manufactured this nonsense 5th Amendment argument to avoid making “The Press” mad at him.

No he could of pointed out the 1970s decision was in error because the argument that a White House Press Pass is the reporters property was absurd. He should of overturned the flawed 1970s ruling.

Had it been a District Court ruling, yes. It was a three judge panel of the DC Circuit.

He can't overturn that, it's a higher level.
