When my great grandad was a kid living in Queens NYC at the age of 8 he’d get on the subway by himself and go all over the city. Nobody ever bothered him. Today that same aged kid couldn’t walk ten feet from his house before CPS is called.
When I was a kid there wasn’t any such thing as a “day care center” within 100 miles of my home.
