The Indiana driver who recently killed three children says she didn’t know there was a school bus in front of her
This is a photo from the crash site. I’d say it’s pretty obvious that it’s a school bus. I wonder if the driver who killed three children was texting while driving.

This next photo is also from the crash site. This is the truck that the driver used to kill three children. The truck did not crash into another vehicle. Instead, all of the dents and other damage in the front of the truck are from driving into the children. Imagine what this must have done to their bodies.

Hard to see all of those flashing lights when your head is in your cell phone...
So I guess it makes it okay that flashing lights didn’t occur to her that there might be some vehicle in front of her and the STOP sign with flashing lights meant nothing? And she passed her written exam okay or was that one of the questions she missed? It sounds like she’s just blowing off the whole tragedy as if it was the kids’ fault and the school bus’ as well.
Those poor kids. And Parents. Prayers out to those families.
From that amount of damage, she must have been flying through the area.
IF she was texting the police can determine that very easily by checking with her service provider.
The dents on that Tacoma are massive. I thought she ran into the car or bus. Those dents are from hitting the children. Oh my God. Have mercy on her soul.

Parents lost ALL of their children. Cops and 1st on the scene devastated, too. School Bus driver having PTSD, says it was gruesome. 11 year old boy survived (barely) and has go fund me site set up.
One sad aspect of this story. The bus driver saw the truck coming, but assumed it would stop, and waived at the kids to cross the street. If the driver had not done that, the kids probably would not have crossed. The driver is in the wrong, but I always told my kids that, no matter what a signal says, NEVER walk in front of a moving vehicle unless you are certain you can get to the other side before they reach here.
You assume people are going to do the right thing, you can end up dead. Because people often screw up.
What a FREAKING HORRIBLE story. 3 kids dead. Three families destroyed. Too hard to even think of.
I was parked at a light with my wife in a Mazda 6, and we got hit by a woman going EASY 35 to 40 miles per hour.
I got out expecting to see about 6 to 10 thousand dollars worth of damage and there was barely a scratch.
Before I chalk it up to a Real Miracle, any car/truck guys know why that might happen?
Probably was texting.
Texting and driving is like drunk driving. Local conservative radio host said there was a study showing texters are worse drivers than drunks.
I see about 1/3 to 1/2 of the drivers coming towards me texting while driving and I am always prepared to take evasive action to avoid these selfish idiots.
They DON’T unless the end result is severe like this.
My mother was in an accident and the young female drivers was definitely texting.
My mom said it looked like the phone was never shut off when she got out and was talking on it.
I told her to get her insurance company to push for the cell phone records but they couldn’t be bothered.
>>You assume people are going to do the right thing, you can end up dead. Because people often screw up.
Heck, I look both ways to cross a 1-way street. I *assume* people will screw up.
So why didn’t you post it from where you found it without involving your blog?
it better not be weed.
There is a void in those eyes.
IMHO texting while driving is worse than driving drunk. It is amazing how addicted people have become to smart phones.
MY wife can not put hers down. She can not go to the bathroom without her cell phone in her hand.
Everyday, on my way to work I watch people in the autos around me talking and texting on their phones.
Has anyone brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Apple/Samsung yet ?
I don’t know what the rules are state-by-state, but if there isn’t a matron on the bus who gets off at every stop to help the children on and off — and I understand that’s very expensive — I think these children were too young to be crossing a street that busy to board a bus. One of the parents should have waited with them at the bus stop every morning to make sure the children didn’t cross the street until the the traffic coming from the other direction had stopped. That road looked like a highway. I am horrified but not surprised this accident happened.
