McDonald's is hoping a big new breakfast sandwich will help bring in more customers.
Triple Breakfast Stacks will hit menus on November 1. They're modified versions of McDonald's popular Egg McMuffin -- they will include two slices of American cheese, two sausage patties, bacon and an egg, The sandwiches are available on a McMuffin, biscuit, or McGriddles cakes.
The new items are designed to help McDonald's solve a problem: Fewer Americans are eating at the fast food chain. A new breakfast could help bring them back.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said that the items are inspired by customized orders made by McDonald's (MCD) customers.
"People have been hacking our menu for years," said Mike Haracz, manager of culinary innovation. The triple stacks were inspired by those orders, he said. Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation, said that customers have been requesting bigger sandwiches for breakfast.
McDonald's teased the announcement earlier on Tuesday during a call discussing its third quarter earnings.
Breakfast has been particularly challenging for McDonald's....

It’s cheaper to grab a chicken fried steak skillet at Denny’s.
Tastier than McD’s for sure.
As my dear old Dad use to tell the waitress... “Give my compliments to the menu photographer...” :-)
I have to watch my carbs. Those do not appear to have any more carbs than the smaller ones. The carbs are in the bread.
One can never use too much butter.
I hate to admit it but I don’t even know what chicken fried steak is.
.
A Big Mac (which has about 1/4 pound of meat) and a medium shake cost about $8.50 in San Diego.
I like the sausage burrito and the egg sausage and cheese bisquit
When I go to work on dayshift, and when I come home after graveyards, I always stop at McD’s.
My usual is 2 sausage mcmuffins with egg, add white cheddar, and one sausage egg cheese mcgriddle with added white cheddar.
I’ll look forward to giving these a try.
Hmmm.
Looks pretty good, but I think I’ll stick with my decades-long favorite - a bacon, egg, and cheese, biscuit. Mmmmmm!
Their sausage always strikes me as a bit undercooked and greasy.
Now, if they took the sausage patties out of those and put in more bacon? You betcha!
McGriddle is my favorite fast food breakfast item ever!
McDonald's fable about the creation of the McGriddle is interesting.
Seems the McDonald chef wanted to create a pancake with the maple syrup already inside but adding maple syrup to the pancake batter did not work out.
One day his colleague came in with maple syrup crystals. That did the trick.
They also add the maple syrup crystals to their oatmeal and serve it with dried cranberries.
I used to order a sausage biscuit with an extra patty but it was actually cheaper to order two sausage biscuits, transfer the patty and toss the extra carbs for the seagulls to eat.
I’ll see how the price breakdown works. My other favorite is the, “steak” egg and cheese with the sautéed onions, yum!
Micky D’s coffee is almost as good as Lavazza coffee.
I never get the Mc Muffin is rubber, always on the biscuit.
The doubles look good.
And it is GOOOOOOOOOODDDD!
I eat a nice 3 egg omelet with home grown Maple flavored bacon, sliced green pepper and jalapeno pepper for breakfast every morning right here in the house. Danged good coffee too and I don’t even have to get dressed.
That looks delicious-—I just checked and the nearest Denny’s to me is in Rhode Island-——and I’m 23 miles away,in MA.
(Sigh)
.
Their breakfast biscuits and muffins are awfull. I like their pancakes and coffee.
