Kavanaugh and the Crux of a Cold Civil War
American Greatness ^ | October 7th, 2018 | Thaddeus G. McCotter

Posted on 10/08/2018 7:55:31 AM PDT by Jack Black

We are in the midst of a cold civil war. The crux? Realizing politics is part of life, one side believes America is fundamentally a good country requiring some prudent improvements upon which reasonable minds may differ. On the other side, the Left, thinking politics is life, believes America is a hopelessly unjust nation requiring “fundamental transformation” and this is a point on which no reasonable minds can differ.

The Kavanaugh confirmation evinces the political abyss between us; and the bathetic depths to which this divide drives the Left to “win.”

Employing the subjective term “credible” for an accusation that has no basis in objective reality, the Left has rationalized its inevitable rejection of the Supreme Court’s “credibility” and “legitimacy.” It will refuse to obey any rulings involving Justice Brett Kavanagh or Justice Clarence Thomas. It threatens to conduct a future Democratic Party-led investigation of one and possibly two sitting justices, and a possible impeachment trial. In so doing, the Left perpetuates the political intimidation of Kavanaugh and Thomas in the separate and equal branch of government that is supposed to reject political considerations and administer impartial justice.

No, it won’t work. But because they feel entitled to announce this; and, excused, emboldened, and empowered by their fellow leftists in the media, they will sadly continue to attempt to erode our constitutional safeguards of equal justice under law.

Further, we’ve witnessed and will continue to bear witness to leftists acting upon calls to publicly “confront” and “get in the face” of senators voting for Kavanaugh’s confirmation—most notably Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), who have been threatened with constant harassment by what are, in essence, political stalkers. This tactic will carry over into other fights. Sadly, we have already seen leftists resort to violence in similar confrontations.

Regrettably, there is the decided likelihood that the Left’s propensity for violence will continue to escalate in proportion to its rhetoric. When Collins is libeled viciously as a “rape apologist” and the entire Republican Party is defamed as “Rape-Publicans,” why would any virtue signaling narcissist resist (even if they could) the incited urge to attack such villains? If you think these people would always resist the lesser angels of their natures, feel free to acquaint yourself with the video of the young pro-life lady being kicked by the “feminist” left-wing goon.

Why does the fascist Left feel entitled to engage in sedition, slander, stalking, and violence to pursue it ends? Conflating politics with life and thinking America is beyond redemption absent a fundamental (and impossible) transformation to socialist Eden where everyone must think the same upon pain of ostracism and worse, the Left cannot believe that anyone who disagrees has good intentions.

In the insane, prog-whistle world of these self-anointed social injustice warriors, where words that challenge their leftist dogma are deemed “violent,” they feel entitled—indeed, compelled—to attack all dissenters in “self-defense.”

Yet the pressing question for those citizens of sound mind and stout hearts is not what will be the next manifestation of the Left’s vicious political paroxysm. To be forewarned and forearmed is, truthfully, all one can do. No, the question at hand is how, for the future good of our free republic, the Left can be constructively engaged and political civility, if not yet comity, restored.

In the wake of the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, this increasingly is a question only the Left can answer, for it is their calumnies and lawlessness exacerbating the political divide and deepening the America’s cold civil war. Best the Left ponder and devise an answer soon.

If they do not, one day, historians will record that the violent Left had turned Steve Scalise into our Charles Sumner.

The Caning of Senator Charles Sumner

A Monday mornin' Civil War II ping for the CWII ping-list subscribers.

For reasons I don't understand American Greatness has to be posted in "Bloggers". Is American Greatness more "bloggy" than American Thinker or National Review? Regardless it's an interesting article.

Students of History would note that the Civil War was brewing long before shots were fired. As is the case with many internal wars.

CWII Ping!

About the CWII Ping List

The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.

FR rules do not permit advocating for the overthrow of the Republic, and I am not aware of anyone doing so on the list. Still many do see that as the political climate worsens we may be heading in a direction that makes such a conflict all but inevitable, particularly if other avenues for resolving our differences are taken away. Such as widespread vote fraud by leftists making elections meaningless, or a small cadre of judges over-ruling all attempts to end destructive policies over the clear will of the people.

The correct keyword tag for the Civil War II ping list is "CWII".

the Left, thinking politics is life, believes America is a hopelessly unjust nation requiring Dissolution - No U.S.A. at all! The Left wants Command and Control Socialism of Communism over America - Communism Preferred.

They need to be told that the Useful Idiots like them are Killed First under Communism and their jobs taken away under Socialism.

Socialism decides what jobs are kept, not You or any Business.

Tell them to look to Venezuela.

What does one do with folks when they represent some 20% of the country and they are dangerously delusional and threatening violence? What they are doing is a crime but I would not want to subject them to the Federal Penal System. Should we create Federal Reservations where they can be productive and in the company of their friends but not exposed to the violence of prison?

I think it's worse than that. They have utterly flipped about a dozen states into un-American enclaves.

The most blatant is California. Essentially California has been subject to ethnic cleansing. The white majority, which was a very conservative state that gave us President's Nixon and Reagan (ie: the Governor's office was the on-deck circle for Republican aspirants to the nations highest office) withing my adult lifetime has become a one party state. It's become a non-white majority state, with many non-citizen residents and an underlying (and not very far under) sense of racial hostility towards the dwindling white population.

It's become a poor state in the process.

It does not seem that the process can be reversed, but others think it can.

If it's not reversible then what we are really faced with is that the Dem claims to being close to a permanent majority are true. They only have to flip a few more States into perma-blue.

What States have gone from Blue to Red. Sure, a few Purple states fluxuate for a few elections.

Oregon and Washington were both proudly Purple states for decades. Oregon had a series of GOP Senators, so did Washington. Both are now pure-Blue, with nary a chance to elect GOPers.

Washington like California has replaced the party-primary system that we've had for 100 years with the jungle primary system that California has. It won't be long before we see elections just like the US Senate one in California where the only two names on the ballot are both Democrats.

I think a peaceful breakup, ala the dissolution of the USSR is the preferable outcome for the USA. This could possibly be done using the Constitutional Ammendment process.

Unless we reverse the Bush Plan for North Mexico and remove the 30 million people they already invited here against the will of the citizens, we will still lose our country.

Yes, I agree.

What's sad is that no one is willing to discuss this, and Trump still hasn't been able to build the wall, which is an important symbol that America isn't an extension of Mexico. If we can't even secure our border what is the likely hood that we can eject 30 million people? And every year they are here they are making kids, who under current (mis)interpretation of the 14th Amendment are all citizens.

The Racialist Brown-power Left just played their hand too early. But in 20 years what they thought they had in 2016 they will have.

So, my sense is that there is zero hope of fixing California. Even arresting illegal criminals as they are in court is a huge problem in California.

If we split back into 50 states then new Federations could be formed, and States could enforce their own immigration and citizenship laws. We could save a lot of states, and over time some that are on the verge might come back.

Been going on for several decades now, under the guidance of "progressives" (regressives).

The following "Lesson" from a Co-Editor of "Our Ageless Constitution" contrasts the Founders' Ideas of Liberty" which the Founders intended should be taught to rising generations, with the Counterfeit Ideas being promoted in the so-called "public schools" of America for decades.

IDEAS OF LIBERTY:

(from America’s Founders and Presidents)

“The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.” (Jefferson - 1774)

“Statesmen may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone which can establish the principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.” (John Adams - 1775)

“The Sacred Rights of Mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the Hand of the Divinity itself, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” (Alexander Hamilton)

“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first and the most basic expression of Americanism. Thus the founding fathers saw it, and thus, with God’s help, it will continue to be.” (Dwight Eisenhower)

“The same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe, the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” (John F. Kennedy - 1961 Inaugural)

“…it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor….”(George Washington)

“Now the virtue which had been infused into the Constitution…and was to give it…the stability and duration to which it was destined, was no other than…those abstract principles…proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence—namely, the self-evident truths of the…unalienable rights of man…the…sovereignty of the people, always subordinate to a rule of right and wrong, and always responsible to the Supreme Ruler of the universe for the rightful exercise of that sovereign…power.” (John Quincy Adams, on the occasion of The Jubilee of the Constitution - 1839)

"Today, across our nation, we see consequences of decades of gross neglect and outright censorship of the Founders’ ideas from textbooks and from our public discourse. We have allowed counterfeit ideas to dominate the public square, and the Founders’ principles have been crowded out. Unwittingly, many teachers and other unknowing officials have participated in the agenda of an unelected mind-controlling elite whose tyrannical actions have robbed generations of Americans from reading or studying the ideas that made America free. Like termites, they have eroded our foundations as effectively as if they had burned the books. Yet, not once have they been willing to call it by its rightful name—censorship. Once, in America, stifling ideas about the Creator and Creator-endowed liberty was considered unthinkable. . . .

"The ideas of liberty must be passed on from generation to generation if liberty is to survive. These ideas, when they are allowed to be examined freely, will prevail, because their appeal is to reason and to the love for liberty that is deep in the human heart. John Adams warned: “The people of America now have the best opportunity and the greatest trust in their hands, that Providence ever committed to so small a number…if they betray their trust, their guilt will merit even greater punishment than other nations have suffered, and the indignation of Heaven.”

COUNTERFEIT IDEAS:

(from some of those whose views have dominated national educational policy)

“The idea of God is the keystone of a perverted society. The true root of liberty, equality and culture is atheism.” (Karl Marx)

Our thinking is enlightened “in the degree in which we cease to depend upon belief in the supernatural.” (John Dewey, father of ‘progressive education’ and 1st President of American Humanist Society)

“…democracy is a human faith and movement, unencumbered by supernatural preconceptions.” (John Childs, a protégé of John Dewey at Columbia)

“…the majority of our youth still hold the values of their parents, and if we do not alter this pattern, if we do not resocialize ourselves to accept change, our society may decay.” (John Goodlad, 1971 Report to President, Schooling for the Future)

“As in 1933, humanists still believe that traditional theism, especially a faith in the prayer-hearing God, who is assumed to love and care for persons, to hear and understand their prayers, and be able to do something about them, is an unproved and outmoded faith.” (Humanist Manifesto II, 1973)

“…the most important factor moving us toward a secular society has been the educational factor. Our schools may not teach Johnny to read properly, but the fact that Johnny is in school until he is sixteen tends to lead toward elimination of religious superstition.” (Paul Blanshard, The Humanist, March-April, 1976)

“It [the Nat’l. Education Association’s publication list] includes the delegitimizing of all authority save that of the state, the degradation of traditional morality and the encouragement of citizens in general and children in particular to despise the rules and customs that make their society a functional democracy. The NEA is drifting into exceedingly dangerous waters, and probably carrying more than a few teachers and pupils with it.” (Chester E. Finn, Jr., Ass’t. Sec. Of Education & Prof. Of Education & Public Policy, Vanderbilt Univ., 1982)

--------------

“Now, my countrymen, if you have been taught doctrines which conflict with the great landmarks of the Declaration of Independence…let me entreat you to come back. Return to the fountains whose waters spring close to the blood of the Revolution.” (Abraham Lincoln)

I don’t think that would be a good idea. I think that would allow everybody to split up into geographically divided camps, and sooner or later there would be war.

I think we go in there with the heavy arm of the law and the military if necessary, clean up the elections, deport the illegals, break up their democrat gang, and if necessary place them under military governance until they are able to govern themselves. As President Trump said, they are too dangerous to govern right now.
