Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
This is NBC, pushing that false narrative 24 hours every day. – NBC’s fake news hack Chuck Todd says something big is coming from Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel office today. Not tomorrow, not Sunday, not next week – today. Why? Because Todd is still pushing the narrative that Mueller is some sort of stand-up guy who plays by the rules, and the rules dictate that his SC office should avoid influencing the November elections by making any big news between Labor Day and Election Day. Given that today is the last “working” day before Labor Day, Todd figures Mueller’s gonna lower the boom on President Donald Trump.
This is, of course, all a lot of stuff and nonsense, as the great James J. Kilpatrick used to say. Robert Mueller is just another Deep State skunk, and so is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and there are no “rules” or even the least bit of oversight governing this fake investigation. This is a witch hunt based on a fantasy, explicitly designed to interfere with the ability of a duly-elected President of the United States to conduct the nation’s business.
Far from being silent for the next two months, we can expect Mueller and his gang of Clinton/Obama hacks to pull out all the stops in their efforts to tilt the midterm elections in favor of the Democrats, which was the plan here from the day of Mueller’s appointment by his buddy Rosenstein. Mueller’s office might announce something significant today, or it might not. But the thought that this Special Counsel is observing any of the rules or traditions of the past is hilariously stupid, and not remotely connected to reality.
Jeff Sessions’ job is safe, until it isn’t. – In an interview with Bloomberg yesterday, President Trump said that Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ job is safe until at least Election Day. After that, all bets are off.
“I just would love to have him do a great job,” the president said.
And thus the competing theories about the Trump/Sessions relationship are set up once again. Is Sessions just another Deep State skunk who is too compromised personally to ever make a move to bring all the Obama/Clinton-era bad actors to justice? Or is the public fueding between the President and his Attorney General a Kabuki dance designed to build up public and media sympathy for Sessions before he begins to make his moves in that direction?
Here’s the deal on that: If you don’t see Sessions doing something big during the month of September, if you don’t see him responding in-kind to any big moves made by Mueller, you should expect to see him fired shortly after Election Day.
Speaking of NBC, The Daily Beast published a report on Thursday claiming that NBC’s executives threatened Ronan Farrow if he didn’t stop reporting on serial rapist and big Hollywood muckety-muck Harvey Weinstein. This threat apparently came after Farrow had left the peacock network in protest over NBC’s refusal to run his expose’ of Weinstein which started the whole #MeToo movement.
If you remember, NBC claimed at the time that it felt Farrow’s reporting was “not ready” for publication, but Farrow had no problem convincing The New Yorker to run the story within weeks after leaving NBC a year ago. The Daily Beast report, naturally based largely on anonymous sources (because of course it is), claims that “NBC News general counsel Susan Weiner made a series of phone calls to Farrow, threatening to smear him if he continued to report on Weinstein.” NBC of course denies the report, but NBC reporters and executives have lied so often about so many things in recent years, and the network is itself so deeply involved with trying to cover up its own series of #MeToo-related scandals that no one can really take anything it says at face value anymore.
At the end of the day this is just a pissing contest between two of the worst fake news media outlets in the business, but the most believable aspect of it is the allegation that NBC did everything it could to protect a heinous scumbag like Harvey Weinstein. Because, what else would a network whose biggest fake news personality at the time was Matt Lauer do?
Just another day in fake news media America.

I’m inclined to say that Magoo is as useless as teats on a bull, but that would suggest he isn’t dangerous. That isn’t true. As of today, Magoo has done more damage to Trump than Robert Mueller has.
Mueller knows he is a target after the election.
Sessions should resign and run for his old seat again.

I have a third theory. Trump is the best transitioning from defense to offense. He managed so far to stay above water without Sessions assistance.
My theory goes like this: Over the last two years, Sessions has built up enough credibility in the media not to be considered a Trump acolyte. To anyone who looks at this objectively, Sessions is doing the job he is supposed to be doing, staying above any partisanship. And by recusing himself, Trump’s anger at him casts Sessions in a positive light with the media.
Eventually, Trump will change postures from defense to offense. That will probably come right after the election providing Republicans hold both the house and senate. Timing is a big issue here. If this happens, Trump has two full years to exact his pound of flesh. At that point, Sessions with Huber’s report can start handing out indictments to the entire Clinton Cabal and there won’t be a thing Democrats can do about it.
The best part about this theory is Sessions came off as non-partisan so Trump has plausible deniability to influencing Sessions.
Sorry, but folks around Alabama have seen Sessions and his ‘work ethic’. Pretty much a zero to get him elected again in Alabama.

Sessions is a useless coward. He’ll be fired after the mid-terms.
Session is hiding out and lounging around at the Recusal Resort... just the way he likes it.

Hopefully Sessions will resign on election day and save the country from any further embarrassment from DOJ.
That's a pretty big proviso. Most people give the GOP a 25% chance of holding. What happens in the (more likely event) that the GOP lose the House but hold the Senate, in your estimation. I think that's the alternative we should be expecting.
My theory: Not election day, but the day after the 115th Congress adjourns, regardless of which party gets control.
Mitch McConnell has no choice but to adjourn the Senate sine die around December 14th, as the 115th Congress comes to a close. McConnell cannot use pro forma roll calls to keep in session a Senate that no longer exists. It must adjourn with all work concluded. Then there is about a three week period before the new Congress is sworn in. This only applies after a mid-term election, when a new Congress is elected. This is the capital T "THE recess" referred to in the Supreme Court case against Obama's illegal recess appointments.
Once the Congress adjourns, President Trump can fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions (and anybody else), and recess appoint a replacement. Republicans in the Senate have said they will not confirm any replacement for a fired Sessions, but a recess appointment will be good until the end of the next Senate session, which would be the end of 2019. This is especially important if Democrats get control of Congress.
Once the recess-appointed Attorney General is sworn in, (s)he will not be recused and Mueller will immediately revert to reporting to the Attorney General directly. The new Attorney General can immediately change Mueller's charter or shut it down outright, and control what happens to any report Mueller may produce. If Mueller leaks the report on his own, his pal Rosenstein won't be in a position to have his back covered.
When the Attorney General's recess appointment ends at the end of 2019, by that time things will be very different. Republicans will be loathe to retaliate against Trump's new Attorney General nominee, as we will be moving into the 2020 election season and no Republican will want to run as a Trump obstructionist when Trump is also running for reelection.
The objective for President Trump between now and mid-December is to find someone who is trustworthy, not affiliated with the campaign, has the gravitas and nerve to stand up to the Deep State, and who doesn't mind a short-term stint as a recess-appointed Cabinet Secretary because this person will likely draw the long knives and will never again get a job in Washington, DC.
Maybe this would be a good job for Rudy Giuliani?

I explain it like so: Sessions is playing by the old rules of a semi formal cocktail party. The Democrats act like a meth head with a razor blade.
Sessions is going to have to relearn the game to advance. But he wont.
I would not be so sure whatever Mueller says is good news. (For him.). The Friday of Labor Day weekend is the absolute worst time to release news you want covered. No one is around. The “D” team will be staffing newsrooms.
Bust Sessions.
