When it comes to support for President Vladimir Putin’s international positions, the South African (SA) Government has been among the most consistent and enthusiastic of any in the world. However, Russian policy in South Africa has been damaged by the behaviour of Russian oligarchs and state businesses implicated in the corrupt schemes of former SA president Jacob Zuma; he is now facing multiple indictments for seeking and taking bribes for himself and his family. Putin’s landing in Johannesburg on Thursday ought to have been the signal for a fresh start.
Ahead of his departure from Moscow, Putin’s advisor on foreign affairs, Yury Ushakov, told the Tass news agency that Putin would be focusing on the nuclear reactor sale he had been promoting with Zuma. “Russia Eyes Building Nuclear Power Plant in South Africa” was the Tass headline.
In his bilateral talks with Ramaphosa, the text of a joint public statement was agreed. This included a strike by the two governments at US sanctions against Russians:
“The Parties condemn extraterritorial application of national law by States in contravention of international law as another example of violation of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of a State.”
They agreed to attack US trade warfare against Russia and China.
“Noting that the WTO is facing severe challenges from unilateralism, both sides agreed to work more closely under the WTO framework to oppose any forms of trade protectionism and unilateralism, uphold the legitimacy and authority of the multilateral trading system and jointly contribute to the building of an open world economy.”
Ramaphosa also joined Putin in an attack on the British manipulation of the Skripal case, agreeing to prevent “the politicization of the activities of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.”

Putin is crafty. He will offer those productive white Afrikaner farmers cheap, fallow fertile land in Russia and the opportunity to migrate. Russia was once the breadbasket of Europe and Putin wants a productive agricultural sector as a cornerstone of the Russian economy.
Giving nuclear technology to a government engaged in a racial democide is a very bad idea.
We need to economically hammer both SA and Russia over this.

I think the things we are seeing now is exactly the reason they scrapped their nuclear weapons and technology. Handing the ANC nuclear weapons would’ve been the height of insanity.

Well, he offered to let 15,000 South African farming families immigrate into the Stavropol region and was going to grant them land for farming. Helping them escape the developing genocide.
I think anyone with any sense at all knows that there will be no stopping the Bantu attacks on these scattered and relatively isolated Farms. So at least he’s willing to try to save their lives. Compare that to what we would do. The US Congress would leave them to their death
That’s exactly what they’re saying. Can you point to any mass murder perpetrated by the apartheid government? Apartheid was not a good thing at all, it was racist, and no good. However, that’s where it ended. It was not a genocide or any type of mass murder. It was just brutally separatist. And given the absolute savagery of the ANC in Africa in the 1970s, not entirely unjustified.
Apartheid ended 25 years ago. Since that time more South African white people have been murdered then we lost in the entire Vietnam War over a roughly similar time frame. Ten thousand more.
The apartheid regime had many objectionable policies. I am not aware that sanctioned mass murder was among them.
The apartheid regime was much like the Jim Crow south. There was a lot wrong with it.
The ANC regime is akin to the Bolshevik regime just as Stalin’s people were taking over.
Do not even *attempt* to pretend the two are equally bad. One of these is manifestly worse than the other, but the West steadfastly refuses to see that because of PC.
Apartheid is 30 years dead and buried. The people being oppressed by the new regime had nothing to do with it, but they will be punished. Because they’re white.
The Boer government looked at nuclear weapons when all of Africa was in the middle of communist aggression. Rhodesia fell and became Zimbabwe. Cuban troops were operating in Angola. South Africa had no friends and was facing ongoing attack. Thankfully they ditched the program so the ANC did not inherit it. Mostly the South African program was simply a place Israel could go test their weapons away from prying eyes. Probably a business deal more than a defense program.
Bottom line, under the old South African government you could make a movie like “Endless Summer”. Now you would be nearly certain to be murdered if you bought the route those boys did.

Do you really think that if the Apartheid government had done such a thing, you wouldn’t already know all the gory details and have heard them repeated ad nauseam by race baiting axe grinders?
I am a manly man. If I were South African I’d get my women the hell outta there. The good news is they have a lot to offer any country that takes them in. I don’t think they would really want to turn to Russia. If there are 10 million whites there’s room for 1 million of them in the US. Just disperse them in the purple states after they’ve been vetted. The UN may just have to OCCUPY SA to insure an orderly movement of the whites out of the country. No sense fighting. Just ask George Custer.
