MANILA - A book about Filipino women written by a Korean man has been removed from online book retailers after complaints that it is "obscene and racist."
According to The Korea Times, the e-book "How to Treat Bar Hostesses in the Philippines" received flak after a tweet about it spread earlier this month.
Many expressed concern about the book's content, which talks about how to deal with Filipino women from a Korean man's perspective.
The book's author, identified only as "Kevin Cho," urged his readers to "make the best use of Filipinas, who can give unforgettable memories."
"Even if you are not a womanizer in Korea, you will definitely be one in the Philippines. This is not the case only for Koreans but also Japanese and Americans. The fact that the Korean Wave is sweeping across Asia makes you feel even more proud. While studying English there, women can be either medicine or poison."
The book was published three years ago by Scene in the Moonlight.
After the issue about the book surfaced, many people in Korea complained about it with online bookstores and demanded that they stop selling it.
All major online bookstores, except Kyobo Book Centre, had removed their book from the websites as of Thursday night.
Lot of Filipino here
Most of the women don’t look like bar hostess .
Magana & pakikisama! Filipinas rule!
I have a natural affinity for Latin and Greek based languages, but Asian and American Indian languages all sound impossibly difficult to understand. There don’t seem to be any “rules”, like there are in Latin or Greek based languages. A country as large as China, had so many different dialects, some of them not even close. Same thing with American Indian languages; some are related language groups, and some are completely different. Very interesting.
I should have added "...and not in a good way."
I know many guys with that opinion...a pity for the future of white folks in the USA.
No they dont, and the ones who do, are pretty much considered to be prostitutes. These are general statements, of course, but the same with the few who wear skimpy bikinis at the beach. Its a no no. A good Filipina will not do that.
They generally look down on strangers, who try to pick them up off the street. Thats not the way to meet them.
I would not say they are subservient. I would say they respect their husbands, and are content with letting the man be a man, and letting a woman be a woman. They definitely get Americanized, but then again, I think most foreign born women do.
As someone pushing 50 a Filipina I talk to on Facebook wants to start a family. I’m sitting here thinking my American sons are great big handsome guys. I don’t want a 5’7 mixed boy the family portrait with the 6’6 son will look weird. Still some of those little ladies are hot..
“Her brother said, in public filipinos will let you be the boss, at home, dont even think about it”
SAME WITH CHINESE! YOU HAVEN’T BEEN CONFUSED UNTIL YOUR WIFE STARTS SCREAMING AT YOU IN CHINESE!
lol
I hope this offends the daylights out of that new New York Slimes columnist.
Used to work Walmart at night. Amused to see older vets with young imported wives. He would be pushing the cart slowly while she would be loading it to overflow. Price to pay, fellas !
Actually, I think it says a lot about a family, when they are strong enough to love someone who is different than themselves.
I don’t disagree but for me personally, I guess with all the demographic replacement happening in Europe and the USA I just don’t want to contribute to it. I’d maybe consider marrying a Filipina, but not really interested in having kids.
The key is be up front about it.
