A question to my colleagues in the media: Why do we play President Trump’s foil?
The scene in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Thursday night was familiar: journalists on an elevated platform in the middle of the arena, penned in, filming the proceedings and typing on their laptops while the president of the United States points at them and provokes thousands of people to boo them, jeer them, taunt them and chant (“CNN sucks!”).
By my count, the president attacked the press — what he calls “the enemy of the American people” — no fewer than 21 times during his 75-minute speech, accusing them of fakery and conspiracy to suppress his voters.
“Oh my God, what fake news!”
“Only negative stories from the fakers back there.”
“What a group!”
“Whatever happened to honest reporting?”
“They don’t report it. They only make up stories.”
“They are the fake, fake, disgusting news!”
“They were giving you phony numbers.”
“Why don’t you report that?”
“These people back here, these horrible, horrendous people.”(continued)

They, or more accurately fake news, are the enemy of the American people.
No one has ever called you out before.

NOBODY has called them out before.
They are terrible. We are all in agreement. But Trump was the first guy, who was brave enough to take them on.

for democracy to work citizens need to be well informed. Thusly fake news is literally the enemy of the American People.

Reporting the facts would be a new direction, I'll give Milbank that. But Trump isn't making the media the story. The media are making the media the story.

The Washington Post wining about their lack of control over all information in the United States.
They *used* to be able to control the information flow.
No more. A large majority of the people are on to them.
We are to the stage of “you can fool some of the people all of the time”, and those numbers are shrinking.
Instead of fake writers Trump should call them opinion writers whose opinions are way off base. Make them own that.
The msm is like a bunch of cats chasing a laser pointer...they just KNOW they’re going to get that pesky thing THIS time.
They can’t help themselves.
I quit watching the MSM news about 25 years ago. They were very biased then and they have just gotten worse. They should move to Venezuela to prove they believe what they report.
Millbank, the guy who said back in 2015 that he would “eat his news column” if Trump got the nomination.
