The escalation of hostility and violence in the United States is becoming undeniable. Over the past couple years alone, there have been politicians calling for increased antagonism toward Trump and his supporters, protesters (sometimes violently) confronting the police and ICE, violent clashes on the streets between Antifa and patriot groups, and many other instances that signify dark times ahead for the US. Almost one third of the nation believes a civil war is imminent. If this worst-case scenario becomes reality, who would have the upper hand?
Many on the right side of the political spectrum will hastily assume that they have the advantage because they have more guns. Republicans absolutely do own more guns, but many Democrats and Independents own guns as well. Will this advantage be enough to definitively win a war? It is hard to say.

American leftists vow to strip funds from the military...

How do I reload, Sergeant Steiner?
They go after the spell'n
Mad Maxine...
Beyond Thunder Dome.
That’s what I think.
“In either event, the deer hunters would either take heavy casualties (and in my opinion surrender), or be unnecessary.”
That’s what makes me cringe listening to all of these boastful posts.
There is literally no organization to this fantasy army. Just deer rifles, some ammo they bought from a sporting goods store....and the idea that their opposition are just all gay dudes or something.
And how many deer hunters have ever had to kill another human? And just how the hell do they they know what they are supposedly supposed to be shooting at anyway? Leftists arent blue with pink unicorn horns.
“Can somebody tell me an alternate scenario whereby the deer hunters get to choke off the cities while the land forces sit on their hands and the President and Congress do nothing?”
I pretty much envision a news helicopter shot of 15 guys blocking a highway with a line of trucks posing with rifles and flags until the National Guard forces them out after a 3 day stand off.
Most of these guys aren’t going to cut off a Walmart from their deliveries, let alone a massive American city.
Former Navy SEAL Craig Sawman Sawyer warns of gruesome massacre if Trump removed from office!
By Joe Newby - August 5, 2017 Excerpted:
Im hearing serious rumblings of a hostile, illegal coup against our democratically elected President by seditious, deep-state subversives funded by Soros & other globalists. Very disturbing, he wrote, adding:
Patriots, this would be nothing less than an act of war against the American people. It would be the removal of our boldest defender & last possibility of maintaining our protective Constitution. Under the boot of globalists, life as we know it, would immediately decline to the model that suits the globalist interest Marxist/Socialist/Communist. They get complete control, you get zero. Freedom, Gone! Liberty, Gone! This agenda is evil and simply cannot be allowed, at ANY cost.
Like ALL military, law enforcement and government officials, I took an oath to defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. By abandoning the rule of law and conducting a coup against the President & policies WE THE PEOPLE elected, they have made themselves enemies of the United States.
After observing that all patriots, regardless of position, have a duty to protect the Constitution, Sawyer minced no words detailing what he believes would happen to those involved in Trumps removal and he explained why:
Anti-American subversives involved in ANY WAY in an unconstitutional coup against our President will be run down and executed immediately by the worlds most supreme warriors. There will be nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide, no mercy, no sense of humor. Harsh examples will be made.
My prediction is it will be a gruesome massacre. Why? Because one side in this conflict has 8 Trillion bullets & the other side doesnt know which bathroom to use.
“If it does it be a very short, very violent and very bloody and deadly civil war for the left wingers in America.”
Or we could have a lower intensity, longer term, on going conflict like “The Troubles” in Ireland.
I agree with you. Lots of armchair warriors here making fantasies.
8 Trillion bullets...
I had thought a FReeper
Coined That Phrase.
Regardless of the local switching center using copper end-to-end or fiber-to-the-block, the heavy aggregate traffic of phone and data are now routed out of urban areas over optical fiber. Trunk fiber connects these large population centers—loss of the trunk connection largely isolates such a region from the outside world.
The Swiss Method....
For Further Study.
Not even Adolph Hitler with the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe at their peak wanted to tangle with the Swiss nation of hunters.

The Swiss are well armed and armed with the best latest equipment. Your neighbor might have the keys to the fighter jet parked in the local mountain.
They aim to kill the leadership of all their enemies.
They aim to cut of the heads of the Hydra.
That is the best way to stay free and conserve people and treasure.
To get back to the original question, and away from the speculative arguments over loyalty of the various current government agencies, the side which would have the advantage if the political conflict became open warfare would be the side that first decided that it was time to stop working within the system and time to start shooting the bastards. But only if they decided this well ahead of time, and started organizing. Collecting arms and ammunition. Setting up units, training the men to work together, establishing lines of communication and chains of command. Identifying friends and enemies, and locating and keeping track of them. Getting together transportation and logistics, and preparing to interfere with the other side’s Quartermaster and Ordinance arrangements. This what the patriots’ Committees of Correspondence, the Sons of Liberty, and the Minute Companies were all about in 1775, and what the British Army set out to disrupt and destroy on the 18th of April. But they were too late, and they failed. Mind you, they were *almost* successful, and they retained major advantages over the Colonial/Continental forces for a long time.
But these advantages of organization and preparation are not static, and no plan remains intact after contact with the enemy. Your side makes mistakes, their side makes mistakes; one side that learns the most from your mistakes and their mistakes gains advantages.
“But bunches of guys who are good with rifles are not an army. We would not last five minutes against a USMC rifle company.
If there is a war, your 55 million man army will not be fighting liberals.”
Aside from the entire point from this
post being conservatives vs liberals,
a large number of NRA members were in
the military at one time.
If a civil war were to break out,
which side or position would the
government take?
Japan was a well trained military
force, but we’re hesitant about
attacking the US mainland.
There was (and still is) a reason
for that.
Many of the scenarios focus so specifically on the federal government that we tend to forget that the United States has and always has had a perfectly tenable government structure that is not federal at all. If a Tsar Bomba took DC out the result wouldn't be Mad Max, it would be 50 functioning state governments, each of which has its own police force and military. A usurper in the White House can give whatever orders he or she likes; without 50 governors' buy-ins it's only words.
Nor will the U.S. armed forces present an unstoppable force for oppression. There are 1.2 million active duty members, only some of whom would remain loyal to a takeover that will, over time, reveal itself as obviously unconstitutional. There are 21.8 million military veterans, an equal proportion of whom have combat experience as the current active membership. We all took the same oaths.
None of these scenarios is likely. Some aren't even possible. What is likely is small-scale terrorism that may look a little like Kosovo and may look a little like Germany when Baader-Meinhof was active. Large-scale convulsions, not so much - much of this is being driven by people who would stand to lose in the presence of an international economic collapse, not gain. But even if such a collapse occurs, in the overall model all of this still can devolve into state, and even local government. It's a very strong system. Almost as if it were planned that way.
All IMHO, of course.
The military will put down anyone on the right, wether it is gun confiscation, CWII or whatever.
You do not seem to realize those volunteering for the military these days are not the unwilling draftees of the 60's.
How would one know? Outside the familiar faces in the news, how would one know a person’s politics? Only the aggregate result of active political action for an area suggest an indication.
Certain areas are well known to support a specific agenda. Established support trends provide a clue down to the district level. Those pockets of support determine the oppositions strength.
start at the top.
leaders are known throughout the system
The Patriot side might have more guns and ammo, but the Left has better organization, sad to say. Right now at least, the Good Guys are a bunch of armed solo individuals, who could be arrested singly in great numbers.
Once upon a time in America, the local militia held monthly musters on the town green. Every qualified citizen of appropriate age was expected to attend, with penalties for failure to do so. Back then we knew our fellow warriors, our local commanders, something about logistics, and had at least a modicum of training in the proper arts.
Now we are a bunch of Militia of One types who distrust our neighbors and (I dare say) the sight of two guys with rifles walking down the street could result in friendly fire tragedies. And our supplies situation amounts to shelves full of canned goods that we never talk about. (Hungry refugees can go to hell, right?)
The Left is better organized, with better communications, no doubt about it. They can pull off a flash mob but we cant. See the problem?
FYI, my days of standing at attention and marching are long past but Ill do my part on the logistical side. My little garden is actually a classroom and if the balloon ever goes up, Ill turn every patch of grass I can find into potato beds and bean fields. Fiercely defended, of course.
