Did Obama Push Too Far? I Believe “President Trump” Is The Answer.

“Maybe we pushed too far,” said Mr. Obama according to Ben Rhodes upcoming book.

So let’s unpack this, as they used to say back in the Obama years. Would you consider using the powers of the U.S. government to legally intimidate and bludgeon your political opponents to be “pushed too far?” Let’s ask Dinesh D’Souza.

I think you can put the answer to that down as a “yes.”

I would like to wish Ben Rhodes success with his new book. Because who deserves success more than a failed novelist turned national security advisor who decided to write historical fiction instead?

nyt ben rhodes

Hopefully it will compensate for his failure as a writer of fiction. Maybe it will also make up for his failures in the field of international arts and as a practitioner of domestic political prosecution. Who knows, if he had been better at his job…

Rhodes strategized and ran the successful Iran-deal messaging campaign, helped negotiate the opening of American relations with Cuba after a hiatus of more than 50 years and has been a co-writer of all of Obama’s major foreign-policy speeches.

maybe his (former) boss would have succeeded in fundamentally transforming America.

So I drink to Ben’s previous failures and offer for your Friday pleasure this month’s first installment of schadenfreude. Laugh till you cry.

I firmly believe that the nation was like the frog slowly being boiled alive but, during the Obama years, they turned up the heat too fast and enough liberals (not the loony left, but the “thinking” liberals) got woke. Not to mention the center. I actually used to say this on the liberal sites and YouTube video comments back before the election.

Yes, I think they gave us Trump. Obama was what set up the country for Trump. And I was saying that when I was no fan of trump and considered him to be the “strong man” of “The Road to Serfdom”.

I wish someone had bottled Ben Rhoade’s tears on election night. I would have loved to sample them. Sweet liberal tears......yum.

Maybe you’re right, but I also believe this country would not have been dramatically different if Mitt Romney had won in 2008 or 2012 (I present him as a hypothetical candidate in 2008 because John McCain would have been a total disaster).

Yep, Obama was a tyrant. Most of the Democratic Party leaders are. Read the definition of NAZISM you’ll find out what this word defines them. HONESTLY!

It’s funny you mention that because, though I mention that I left Seattle for Kentucky in 2011, I actually bought the property in 2008, two weeks before the election.

And I thought McCain would win!

I just couldn’t believe the country would elect an utterly unqualified candidate solely because of the color of his skin. I was deluding myself and learned from that error.

But I thought McCain would have been a catastrophe. I think a case can be made that Obama won because McCain was such a poor option and Trump won because Hillary was such a poor option. But regarding Trump, I really do believe it was mainly because the Obama presidency was a disaster for way too many “rank and file” americans. Even black Americans.

These people can never simply accept that they were wrong. It’s always they didn’t get the message out or the timing was wrong or something but they are so arrogant they cannot admit any error of policy or ideology.

There's something to be said for that, but I'm not convinced that a president leaving office after two terms has all that much influence on the next election. I think the quality of the candidates matters far more than the outgoing president. That's why the candidate from the incumbent party has lost the last three elections that were held under this scenario: Clinton in 2016, McCain in 2008, and Gore in 2000. These three were simply awful candidates and awful people.

I think Trump's biggest asset was a surge of outrage across this country when we arrived in 2015 and learned that the frontrunners for the 2016 presidential election were two @ssholes named Bush and Clinton. The Democrats rigged their primary to get their @sshole nominated. The GOP had enough principled, outraged people to make sure their @sshole was less popular among Americans than ISIS when he left politics in humiliation.

IMO, what pushed voters over the edge in 2016 was the 2015 gender/bathroom issue. Conservatives already know which bathroom to use. ;)

Worse, there are fewer convenient public bathrooms, and more "uni-sex" bathrooms. More waiting.

After 30 years of being forced to choose between Amnesty candidate D and Amnesty candidate R, Americans finally had a real choice about keeping their country and the rule of law.

I’d ask the rhetorical question “Is the Pope Catholic?”, but that’s open to debate.
