Three Oklahoma teenagers were killed last week when they broke into a house and were met by a homeowner with an AR15. Now the grandfather of one of the teenagers is speaking out about his grandsons death.
According to KTUL-TV, Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of 17-year-old Jacob Redfearn, believes the death of Redfearn was unjustified because the homeowners AR15 gave him an unfair advantage over the three burglars.
Speaking to KTUL, Schumacher acknowledged that breaking into a house was stupid, but death was not the appropriate consequence.
What these three boys did was stupid, Schumacher said. They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.

These are the same people that, whenever there is a police involved shooting, condemn the cop for shooting someone who fails to show hands or moves in a threatening manner or produces a “shiny” object and the cop has a split second to decide to shoot or not. Ones home is ones castle. Only those invited may enter. Having a number of people enter, unannounced, and not knowing who or what they are, will result in the homeowner fearing the worst. That split second of indecision can result in a catastrophe for the innocent. I can “understand” the sorrow of losing a grandchild, but the circumstances were initiated by the deceased and only the deceased can be held responsible for their actions.
Yes he is. https://www.facebook.com/leroy.schumacher
We can't forget that three teenagers had an unfair advantage over a single person, but with the AR-15, the person took care of their unfair advantage. Instead of being robbed and beaten (they were planning to use brass knuckles to beat a helpless person, maybe to death, he was now in charge and fairly defended himself.
If he had an advantage, that was a good thing. You always want to have the advantage in a dangerous situation. It's not your fault you want to be safe and alive. Was he supposed to wait until they started to pound on him?
My thoughts agree. Punching with a 12 gauge would have been far more deadly. Good thing the homeowner only used a weeny AR instead of a street sweeper. Probably wanted to limit the mayhem.
The only fair fight is the one I win!
Wonder what his FReeper name is?
Maybe if they wouldn’t have broken into that house, they would still be alive.
Actions have consequences.
Who knew that liberal snowflakes went back that far.
A smart fighter does not “fight fair,” he fights to win.
What a stupid idiot. No wonder his grandson was stupid enough to commit crimes and get shot
.....sometimes ya just cut your loses..
Three dudes break into a person’s house isn’t fair either.
How old is the Grandfather? 40 years old?
Sounds harsh, but there is precedent in Scottish law. The crime was called hamesuken and carried the penalty of death by hanging in a saner time. You can look it up.
Stupid and criminal is an often lethal mix. Weve all done stupid stuff as kids but breaking into homes is downright over the line.
He does not realize it but he just made the argument for guns.
Silly sod.
this has to be a joke, satire, humor piece
but just in case its intended to be a real news report,
ask granddaddy where his son/daughter was ... AWOL...or did his family intentionally raise those kids to be burglars?
either way, its good that family’s been cut off
.357 size pellets make a mess when there are 15 of them at once.
Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And, I'm not sure about the universe.
