Todays Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
Three weeks ago, on March 8, I pointed out that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had dropped a little bomb into the mix, one that hardly anyone in the fake news media managed to notice, when he told Fox Newss Shannon Bream that:
I have appointed a person outside of Washington, many years in the Department of Justice (DOJ), to look at all the allegations that the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us; and were conducting that investigation.
At that time, the Attorney General gave no indication as to the identity of this person outside of Washington, but it was reasonable to conclude that said person was investigating the myriad very credible allegations that various members of the anti-Trump cabal within the FBI and Department of Justice had violated the FISA law during and after the 2016 presidential campaign.
Lo and behold, in the midst of a growing cacophony of demands by Republican members of congress that Sessions appoint a second special counsel to investigate the FISA abuse scandal, on Thursday Sessions sent a letter to congress in which he unveiled the name of that non-Washington person: U.S. Attorney John W. Huber, who is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Even better, the AG reminded congress that, in a letter way back last November 13, Assistant AG Stephen Boyd had already notified the legislative branch that Mr. Hubers investigation was well underway:
Uh, well, all the Republicans in congress apparently failed to read that one. No one in the fake news media gave it any notice, either. But there it is, in black and white.
Oh, but it gets even better. In his letter yesterday, Sessions also let it be known that Huber has been conducting his investigation in cooperation with wait for it Inspector General Michael Horowitz. Another bomb dropped.
Hey, it gets even better than that. It is probably not a coincidence that the Sessions letter to congress comes on the same day that fired ex-Deputy FBI Director and key anti-Trump cabal member Andrew McCabe created a legal defense fund for himself. (Lets all note the irony of a career federal employee who has somehow cobbled together a net worth of more than $11 million while making a government salary asking the little people to pay his high-powered lawyers for him.)
Nor is it likely a coincidence that McCabes move comes on the day after a Minneapolis FBI agent, Terry Albury, was indicted for guess what? criminal leaking to the news media, the same crime McCabe committed and lied at least four times about to the Inspector General and the Office of Professional Responsibility. But of course, most of the fake news media completely missed this part of the story, and all the connections detailed above.
Instead, the Usual Suspects in Americas grand pantheon of fake media outlets are portraying the Thursday Sessions letter to congress as if Sessions is basically refusing to do anything, complete with quotes from angry Republicans who also arent connecting these dots condemning the AG for refusing to appoint another Special Counsel.
The reality, as is generally the case with our fake news media, is exactly the opposite. As I pointed out when Sessions dropped his bomb on March 8, you have to look at all of this from the AGs point of view. After all, he has an ongoing investigation that has been underway for months, since at least last November and probably well before then. Why would he interrupt all that work thats already been done by appointing some new guy to come in, take weeks or months to get organized, and then go over all the same ground thats already been covered by Mr. Huber and his staff, working as they are in conjunction with IG Horowitz and his staff of 470 people?
Given the manner in which the law has been abused against Republicans over the years, Sessions most likely has a proper disdain for the special counsel law in general, and is reluctant to use it unless it becomes absolutely necessary. Robert Muellers conduct in his assignment thus far has only given thinking Americans much more cause to regard the law as the American Prosecutorial Abuse Act that it is. Why create another monster using that law when you already have an investigation that has been underway for months, one that may very well already have a grand jury convened and be preparing to issue indictments when the IGs report from his own investigation is made public?
If you want to politicize the process as Rod Rosenstein did then you appoint a Special Counsel and let him spend months and years abusing peoples rights in the pursuit of an array of irrelevant process crimes and indictments of foreign nationals who will never be brought to trial. But if you want to bring people to justice for real crimes against this country, AG Sessions obviously believes the best way to do it is within the confines and processes of the justice system as it was set up in the U.S. constitution.
Some are speculating that what Sessions really has Huber and Horowitz doing is laying the groundwork for the appointment of a second special counsel after the Horowitz report has been released. I dont agree with that, for the reasons laid out above. Working together, Huber and Horowitz have every power possessed by a special counsel: Given that, why would the AG reinvent the wheel just at the cups of issuing indictments and perp-walking the wrongdoers? Makes no sense to me.
What does make logical sense is that Sessions believes his Justice Department is capable of actually doing its mandated job. Its sort of amazing that people who call themselves conservatives object to that approach.
Just another day in Jeff Sessions dont need no stinking second special counsel America.
That is all.

Fine Mr. sessions no second special council, can you please explain where is Any investigation going on to hold Hillary Clinton’s abuse of her term as Secretary of State, her use of a private server, the millions she collected while in her job,and her campaign claims off Russia collusion, why was the DNC computers never checked for the so called hacking, how come you will not speak to wiki leaks founder claims the Russian hack claims are bogus?
Answer these questions and MAYBE I will give you a pass
So we don’t need one because Sessions appointed someone to investigate FISA abuse, who answers to Rosenstein, one of the people who signed the FISA warrants that led to the abuse in the first place. Nice try. Fakenews.
Sessions is a joke.
Why is Hillary’s IT guy, the one that wiped her email server clean when he new damn well those emails were under a preserve order from Congress and congressional subpoena, why is he walking around a free man. He destroyed evidence, destroyed classified docs and lied to the FBI about it and he is as free as a bird. If Sessions or anyone else for that matter was doing any kind of investigation that IT guy is witness #1, he should be in jail facing 30 years behind bars. That would loosen his tongue.
Why is NO ONE investigating how Wiki Leaks got the DNC emails?
Why isn’t Session looking into just who murdered Seth Rich?
Why hasnt Comey been arrested for giving his law professer buddy classified info to leak? Its a slam dunk! Any Qooks want to explain THAT 13-D chess move? Guys out hawking his book, tweaking the Pdesidents nose, free as a bird. WHY?
Sessions.
“Why hasnt Comey been arrested for giving his law professer buddy classified info to leak? Its a slam dunk! Any Qooks want to explain THAT 13-D chess move?”
“I have appointed a person outside of Washington, many years in the Department of Justice (DOJ), to look at all the allegations that the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us; and were conducting that investigation.
All the work has already been done by patriotic and responsible investigative journalists. Excellent books that lay everything out. All Sessions has to do is follow their blueprints instead of wasting time and re-inventing the wheel.
“reinvent the wheel just at the cups of issuing indictments”
cups = cusp
And how do you know that its NOT being investigated. Of course, we dont know that it is, but we also dont know its not. Theres probably a boatload of stuff going on that were not going to know about. Im sorry AG Sessions didnt consult YOU first. Color me suspicious, or at least skeptical, but I am encouraged by this and other tidbits being left on the trail...especially McCabe having a Go Fund me account, which I think is hysterical, considering whats happening to Flynn, arguably as a result of McCabe. IF, and thats a big IF, theres as much to look at as WE think there is over the last 8 years, and longer if we take into account the Clintons, this will not be fixed overnight. I submit that if investigations, arrests and perp walks started on Jan 21, 2017, it would look like a banana republic political payback and have no credibility. Regardless, it will still be called a political payback but at least it appears Sessions, et al, is doing due diligence.
Sessions isn't doing squat, from another thread
Words have meanings, Mr Huber is not conducting an investigation, he is doing a review of the OIG investigation to determine if a Special Prosecutor will be needed. Big difference.
But we do want a special counsel for this, so the investigation can start brand new, he or she can have free rein, and drag things put way past 2020. In this case special counsel good.
Logic isnt one of your strong suits now is it?
Whats the thread? Whats the source? Be cautious of affirmation bias. Perhaps thats exactly what Sessions wants everyone to think; i.e., the media, so it is not co-opted or spun out of control before gaining traction. Again, my jury is still out on Sessions (no pun intended), but I think we owe him the time. Trump has publicly lambasted him, but hes still there and Im inclined to think its part of the show. What I look at is what is going on around this (McCabe lawyering up and Hillary self destructing) and whats NOT being said (Obama has been very, very quiet with the exception of some Netflix story).
If the trigger is the IG report reveal and then indictments can flow, wouldnt it be better just to really really try not to pee your pants for a little while longer.
Oh and reading comprehension, actually read Sessions letters from last fall and this week. Then try basic arithmetic as in one plus one . . .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_1yL0hf6MI Maybe he is doing his job.
Or dont read the letters, and stay uninformed.
A special council is the only way to indict Clinton, Lynch, Comey, Obama, and others no longer working for the gov’t.
Well, no. Any US Attorney can prosecute those no longer working in government. And they actually can and do prosecute people within government.
The special counsel rules in the DOJ are for conflicts of interest within the Administrative branch of government that attract too much Congressional or public attention.
I’ll take Gowdy’s explanation over yours, thank you.
The IG is apparently dragging this out as long as possible.
Exactly what do his 500 Very Special Agents do every day?
Why not issue the humongous report in chapters that can be completed in a more timely manner?
